A powerful tribute to a young man who meant so much to so many🩵

Hundreds of students and staff lined the street outside of The Fitzwimarc School, applauding a boy who was taken too soon.

Led by a bright green Lamborghini, we are honoured to have been involved making this a procession that was truly unique to Harry💚

Why do we invite the congregation to stand as the coffin enters the chapel?🎩

You may have noticed that the congregation are invited to stand as the coffin enters the chapel at the beginning of a funeral service.

This simple gesture is a traditional sign of respect. Standing acknowledges the person who has died and marks the significance of the moment as they make their final entrance. It allows everyone present to pause briefly as the coffin is received into the place of service.

While not compulsory, it remains a meaningful way to honour a life and show collective respect before the service begins🙏

The History of S. Stibbards & Sons🎩

Samuel's business was beginning to grow, with his 3 sons joining the company and forming the second generation of S. Stibbards & Sons.

They took various roles within the business, assisting with the care of families in Hadleigh and the surrounding areas, and also the building contractor work that the company undertook.

However, disruption was imminent with the threat of war in Europe.

A brief history of the traditional funeral pall🎩

Once a common and practical item within the funeral profession, the funeral pall was used to drape over a coffin as a sign of dignity and respect during a service.

Historically, it helped create a sense of unity and modesty, keeping the focus on remembrance and the person being honoured rather than the coffin itself.

Today, the pall remains a symbolic gesture, a quiet tradition that continues to represent respect, care and remembrance🙏

Why does a funeral director bow at the coffin?🎩

You may have noticed a funeral director bowing their head at multiple points during a service. This simple gesture is a traditional sign of respect, a moment to honour the person who has died and acknowledge the trust placed in us by the family.

While many traditions have evolved over time, small acts like this remain an important way of showing dignity and care throughout a funeral.

Are there any other funeral traditions you’ve ever wondered about? Please ask us in the comments below👇
