From Small Beginnings, Chapter 5🎩

World War 1 forced S. Stibbards & Sons to balance two duties, their commitment to the country and their community.

Family members David and Albert answered the call to war, with David playing a role at home while helping maintain the running order of the business, and Albert being deployed across Europe in the Royal Medical Corps.

Hadleigh lost 49 men during the conflict, their names now inscribed inside the porch at St James the Less Church, as a reminder of the profound sacrifice our community made🙏

Their holistic approach focuses on early intervention, offering 1-2-1 coaching, therapies, workshops, and school support, to help people build the tools they need to cope with stress, trauma, and life's challenges.

Meet Our Conductors🎩

We’re pleased to introduce you to a new member of the Stibbards team, Dave Ponton.

Dave may be the newest member of the team, but he certainly isn’t new to the funeral profession.

Dave started his career in the profession in 1997, working for various funeral directors in the area. Now joining us as one of our funeral conductors with over 25 years of industry experience, we are grateful to see Dave in the Stibbards uniform.

We are proud to announce our 2026 charity of the year will be Gold Geese Charity💛

Gold Geese is a small, local charity supporting families of children and young people fighting cancer in the Southend and Basildon areas.

Gold Geese provides tailored support including mental health therapy funding, food vouchers, toys, weekend breaks, and practical help with hospital travel, for the child, siblings, and parents.

Their work brings comfort and relief to families during their most difficult moments, and we're honoured to support them throughout the year.

We'll be sharing more about our fundraising efforts soon, but we wanted to introduce you to this incredible charity and the difference they make in our community🙏
