Thank you to the art students at USP College for creating this beautiful piece to go outside our centre for everyone to see as they walk in.
Hereβs a breakdown of their work ποΈ
- Sunflower represents hidden disabilities
- Nemo has a withered fin (or βlucky finβ as he calls it in the movie)
-Timmy from South Park is a wheelchair user. He has been drawn smiling and taking part in a physical activity to show everyone is entitled to be happy, included and lead a full life, which reflects the ethos of The Rainbow Day Centre
-Rick, from Rick and Morty, has traits of a disability although this is not explicitly diagnosed β rather, it is displayed in his behaviour
-Joy is from Inside Out, and represents the emotion of joy, which is something that The Rainbow Day Centre wants to give to our clients
-Spongebob Squarepants does not have a diagnosed disability, but most likely has ADHD, as shown in his behaviour
-One student created a wheelchair emoji character, as currently this does not exist; they think this is particularly important for young people, who may want to text this to their friends
-They wanted to have cartoon characters that were relevant to young adults and adults, to represent the client base of The Rainbow Day Centre
Thank you again to everyone involved for making this amazing artwork π¨
