Week 3/20 Hyrox World Champs Prep.

Rounded of a good week at the Snake Lane 10 miler with the core gang.

Wrote this race off a few weeks ago with the hamstring injury but have managed to build my aerobic miles up to around 10 so gave it a go. Pacing and .c.c to impressive times.

Allthough I haven’t been able to do any quality high intensity run sessions for a few months now, I’m feeling pretty fit.

I think my LT1 would sit around 6:30 m/mile which with a good marathon block gets me around a 2:45, it’s tempting but I know the hamstring wouldn’t handle the volume, hoping to join .fitness and the rest of the core team in Budapest this October.

We welcomed more athletes to our coaching program this week as well as some time out to reflect as a team before starts her role full time next week.

It’s birthday week.

Week 2/20 Hyrox World champs prep.

Biggest training volume week for a while, probably since my Ironman days.

18 hours total.

Added a small amount of intensity on the running.

Hamstring continues to improve with the rehab I’m doing. A scan revealed it is is tendinopathy but no associated tear 🙏.

Ran steady yesterday for an hour with an average HR of 144 @ 7:00min miling (4:20k pace) which shows there’s still some efficiency there but will be looking forward to some speed work when the times right.

All I’m really bothered about with my running is building my volume to around 50 miles per week then looking to add the instensity work more.

I’m starting to get my efficiency and strength back on the stations and I’m loving doing more work on the bike. Hints of another Ironman 👀…………., nah no way not anytime soon.

Busy week in the world of core where we launched our ambassador program and also look to announce some collaborations with other brands in different areas of the fitness world, lots of core athletes are now deep in marathon preps and chasing world champs spots at Hyrox as well as starting to think about the triathlon season and hosted another great comp ❤️.

Week 1/20 Hyrox World Champs prep ✅

- Decent volume banked
- Benchmark testing
- Low volume / easy running only
- Scan tomorrow to investigate hamstring issue
- Great to be back

Nothing exciting just getting the body used to the training hours.

Things I’ve learnt:

- My body needed some time away from intensity.
- I’m stronger now then I was at my peak last worlds champ prep and have no real need to get stronger.
- I’ve rekindled a bit of love for cycling.
- Mental stress and fatigue affects high performance hugely.

Next weeks goal will be more of the same but seeing how the hamstring reacts to a bit more volume and bulking out the rest of the sessions slightly.

It’s a phrase often used by performance coaches but mostly the boring work yields the sexy results.

Body feels in a better place for taking out some intensity.

High hamstring tendinopathy is quite literally a pain in the arse! I blame the extra office work 😤.

I’ve CHEATED!

I can’t believe I’m writing this.

It’s been a tough few days trying to come to terms with my actions.

Those who know me, know that I hold loyalty, honesty and respect as three of my highest values.

I deeply regret any impact that this decision will have on any of those who have been negatively affected.

To the one who will be affected the most, .fitness , I apologise deeply and hope that we can still move forward in a positive manner.

But for Cardiff Hyrox, I am here to announce my doubles partner will be ………….

January - you got me, managing injury’s, a hectic start to the new year at the core group, some racing and some crazy virus has put me in the bin.

Spent the last week with no training trying to get over the illness and have a bit of a reset.

Starting to come round again and ready to get back to training - I think 😵‍💫.

Super inspired by all of the achievements by our athletes, gym members, brand ambassadors and work team - but they all know the score. Februarys a new month and we find a way to be better.

On a competition front - 20 weeks to be in the shape of my life before I make a decision on what’s next. Hyrox Worlds in Stockholm - I’m ready to finish as high as I can in the world 🌎.

On a business front has welcomed many new members from all backgrounds and continues to grow, we have a new gym layout and new full time member to announce shortly.
fitness is lunaching our athlete ambassador program and we look to combine the this and our squad of amazing athletes at corePT. We launched 10 new products and manufacturing has already started on more lines been added to the store.

February - we coming, and I turn 36 this month 😱

Then I can enjoy some downtime, it’s needed 🤣.

52’s the aim.

I could say I feel in great shape and trainings gone well, personally I’d be lying, but .fitness is in another stratosphere at the minute 🔥

Either way, the best foot will be put forward.
