Awesome few days in Barcelona 🇪🇸

Came here to post a Worlds doubles spot but fell short.

4th in cat 53:50.

Lost the sled routlette on pull and just didn’t have the run legs which stopped us from getting closer to our 52 minute goal.

No regrets, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Time to focus on the singles in 5 weeks time.

“Who do you train with / where?”

This usually answers my question pretty easily.

If you want to be the best.

Get around them.

If there’s one thing that constantly striving in all areas of my life has taught me the most: progress comes often when you least expect it.

The truth is this, high performance and high achievement don’t come from anything special. Most people will never reach their potential because of this:

1. They don’t listen and learn.
2. They quit before the magic happens and the consistency truly pays off.

Most people don’t lack the intelligence or natural talent to succeed.

They lack the minerals.

They lack the consistency.

Bev 10k ✅

Pacing duties for some of the Core Team whilst keeping a lid on things (protecting the hamstring) ready for a big training week and a racing trip to Barcelona with .fitness next weekend.

Core met Cardiff with full force 🤝

Personally a 1:02:34 8th in Cat in a busy pro field.

I continue to persevere despite my lack of running. I’m losing a couple of minutes from my usual run numbers.

I am absolute praying I can top up my run fitness at least a little bit over the next 7 weeks as I know I am right on the cusp of peaking. Getting above 10-12 miles a week would be a good start 🙏.

Sunday me and my wife and co owner of the core group did a mixed doubles. We had fun and I was proud of her. Everyone has different journeys in fitness and there’s always a story behind every journey. She’s a great role model to females in fitness and business.

Our elite athletes, coaches, brand ambassadors and gym members all achieved great things in their own way. But as the mc in Cardiff agreed, they all and that is what I have preached for 20 years in sport and fitness.

I won’t stop beating the drum.

Personally, collectively, professionally.

Already plotting how to do better on every front, because that’s what we do, everyday.

Team cores ready to pain Cardiff black and yellow.

Athletes, gym members and brand ambassadors at the ready.

For me personally I haven’t a clue where at in terms of hyrox.

I know 2 things.

1. I’m the fittest and strongest I’ve ever been.
2. I can’t really run due to injury.

Always happy to roll the dice and see what happens 🎲.

Week 12/20 World Champs prep.

Running volume is still very much on the low side.

This hamstring tendinopathy has been one of the most stubborn injury’s to heal I’ve ever had. It is slowly, and I mean slowly, getting better but my run volume continues to be extremely low. The strength work on it is still progressive.

I had 2 choices really, risk no running and try let it fully settle but then have no run volume at all, or at least use the mileage I have available for some hyrox specific work till worlds, and then take some time off.

I chose the latter.

I’m a competitive sportsmen and those who have had long competitive careers know that some sort of pain management is part of the process (don’t confuse this for me telling people to train through pain - I’m working within a manageable threshold.)

This week saw a full sim PB of 55:55. I felt amazing. Very much in control.

1 week till Cardiff which I will approach with no taper and it will top off a 3 week build before a deload next week.

Theres one goal atm.

Great to catch up with some existing manufacturers and start negotiations with new.

We have some really exciting things in the pipeline for .

Great to catch up with old friends and spend some quality time with .

Sometimes stepping outside the frying pan makes you recognise the progress that continues to be made. I think most business people and entrepreneurs can get that involved in the daily grind they often struggle to step back and truly recognise it, I’m know I’ve always been guilty of that.

1. I already had a decent base, I’d ran consistently for a few years at 20-30 miles a week.

2. I was strong, trained heavy strength with strength endurance work, simple stuff but meant I didn’t fall apart or get injured in the race.

3. I followed a plan, didn’t get side tracked, start 2nd guessing, start listening to every Tom dick and Harry tell you how to do it better.

4. I understood fuelling.

5. I understood intensity distribution in my training so I could put together a couple of key marathon run workouts leading to the race.

6. I focused on quality over quantity - no junk miles, no running for the sake of it.

Some AM benchmarking today.

If I ask my athletes to do it, then I’ll do it too 🫡.

6 mins ski = 1766m 1:41.9 / 500m
6 mins row = 1735m 1:43.7 / 500m
6 mins Burpee facing over bag = 102 reps
150 wall balls for time @ 9kg = 6:28

Fell to pieces on the wall balls, it’s a long time since I was able to put myself in the bin like that.

PM VO2 Max intervals on the bike 6 x 4 mins (3 recovery)
