Local Families Gain Access to Hospital at Home Service for Children’s Illnesses

The Hospital at Home service is available to families in the Scunthorpe and Grimsby areas. The service supports early discharge from hospital and helps prevent unnecessary hospital admissions by providing nursing care for unwell children in their own homes.

The Humber NHS Foundation Trust have an experienced team of children’s nurses provides care for children with conditions such as croup, bronchiolitis, wheeze, gastroenteritis, and illnesses that cause a fever with an identified focus.

The service can be accessed via your GP, A&E, out-of-hours GP services, or the children’s ward.

Flu season is coming, and we’re here to help keep you and your loved ones protected 💪

🗓️ Flu vaccine clinics will be starting from October – appointments will be available to book very soon!
💉 COVID vaccines will also be offered alongside flu vaccines where eligible.
🤰 Pregnant women and 👶 children will be able to receive their flu vaccines from September.

Getting vaccinated helps protect you, your family, and our community – especially the most vulnerable.

We're preparing for five days of resident doctor strikes starting this Friday..... are you?
Here are a few things you can do to help:

💊 Order repeat prescriptions in plenty of time so you don't run out
👀 A&E will be super busy, so get familiar with other health services near to home and add NHS111 to your phone
🩹 Keep a first aid kit and well-stocked medicine cabinet at home, including painkillers, indigestion remedies and diarrhoea tablets
🤢 Avoid hospital if you're experiencing symptoms of Norovirus (D&V) or have cold or flu-like symptoms
🚨 Use the NHS Emergency Prescription Service if a regular medication runs out completely (available through NHS111)
🧳 If you’re visiting us from another part of the country and you need a GP appointment for routine treatment, please call your own surgery. If you just need a prescription, they can send it to any pharmacy you choose.
