Yes they can be perfectly safe in the right hands, following correct techniques and procedures. But by the nature of a needle entering the skin and injecting a product beneath there are elements of risk. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally formed sugar molecule so the risk of allergic reaction is extremely low. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💉We work as sterile as possible to reduce the risk of infection, and provide advice such as no makeup or creams for a period of time afterwards to allow the skin to heal and remain clean. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👄 Swelling and bruising is likely but we advise against alcohol and certain medications that can make these effects worse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Blocking an artery with filler is by far the most serious risk but thankfully one that is extremely rare. We deal with this by complications training, having an emergency kit to dissolve the product and being prepared to recognise if this was to happen👩‍⚕️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Dermal fillers are not all created equally and there are huge pricing variations between them, in particularly between the FDA approved ones and those that are not FDA approved. Being in the UK, fillers are marked as a medical device rather than medicine, meaning they don’t have to have a mark of approval other than that of the CE mark. Whilst this is helpful to establish the quality of its production it says nothing about its clinical safety and efficacy. This doesn’t mean cheaper products are bad, it just means there is no way of telling if they are or not. Particularly in the long run. So why take the risk?
At Refined Beauty Aesthetics we use Teoxane and Juvederm, well established and approved products as mentioned above to maintain your safety at all times. These products also contain local anaesthetic to help make your treatments as comfortable as possible.
