Pandiculation:

A voluntary contraction into the muscles...Followed by a slow lengthening...And a complete relaxation. Try this., we do it when we yawn and stretch. It not only feels awesome, it lengthens shorter muscles and allows them to relax...

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Mental health problems, ranging from issues like depression and anxiety disorders to conditions like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, affect millions of people around the world. In fact, according to certain statistics, 1 in 4 people will experience some kind of mental health problem during their lifetime and many more will see friends or family members who are affected.

The purpose of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues, increase education on the topic and attempt to eliminate the stigma attached. It is hoped that this, in turn, will encourage sufferers to seek out help and support.

It’s time to push away the stigma, embrace the struggle, and invest in the opportunity for a more stable future when it comes to mental health. World Mental Health Day is a great day to begin!

Chronic Pain Management & Recovery

Our Osteopath Suzanne use the latest evidence based mind body approach to help reduce and manage long term or chronic pain.

Over the last few years the understanding of long term pain conditions has evolved as science has deepened our knowledge of how the body and nervous system processes these sensations.

We now know that many factors can play a part in the perception of pain, such as emotions, stress, trauma, and lifestyle choices..

Chronic pain can often be made worse by other factors in your life, so together identify which of these may be an issue for you, and devise an individual treatment plan to help you begin to feel better.
This may include gentle hands on treatment to soothe and calm the nervous system, pain education to help you understand what is happening in your body and teaching you simple ways to manage and reduce your symptoms yourself.

There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures. (IV.ii.269–276)
