Getting ready for Valentine's....

They say love makes the world go round...well our residents at Manorfields agree with that and so have been making some early preparations for Valentine's Day, by creating some rose-themed decorations. We are sure as the 14th February approaches we're going to see a lot more 'lovely' activities take place in the home!

Lots going on at Edward House.....

With the weather not being great, the focus for our residents has been on indoor pursuits. They have been enjoying a range of different activities this week from picture bingo to colouring to taking part in a general quiz. All of the different games and activities have been enjoyed by everyone, and it has been interesting to see what everyone's favourite activity is.

Trips out in 2026.....

Our residents always enjoy a trip out to their local community. This week we continued our series of visits to local businesses. Valerie and Pat visited the local cafe for coffee and cake. They had great fun catching up and we can report the cake didn't last long! What's not to like....

Orchard House - expressing our creative side....

A big thank you to Creative Paths, who visited our residents to guide them in creating some fab paintings this week. Creative Paths provides arts-led creative and reminiscence workshops for people living in care. It's a wonderful way of promoting engagement and linking that with maintaining fine motor skills. It's always fun to hold these sessions, and this week was no different. Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to next time!

Trousertastic fun!

OK, it's not Snakes and Ladders or Snap, that's for sure...but it is huge fun! At Willow Tree, we like to try some different stuff, and so we tried out a game involving oversized trousers - of course, we did!! Staff wore oversized trousers and moved around, whilst residents threw inflatable balls at them, aiming to land in the trousers. Simple right? Well, more difficult than you might imagine, but very funny, and it produced a lot of laughter in the home. Why not try something a little wacky next time you play a game....

Flu not getting us down!

Despite the temporary closure of Orchard House due to a flu outbreak, the staff and residents decided they wouldn't let that spoil their fun. So they came together to organize a basketball game between themselves. There were lots of enthusiastic players, creating a positive and energetic atmosphere at home. The game encouraged teamwork and friendly competition, allowing everyone to momentarily forget about the situation and have a good laugh. Both the staff and residents really enjoyed the game, and it brought a sense of unity and joy to the home during a challenging time.

Marvellous Memories...

Our lovely residents here at Manorfields have a wealth of life experiences behind them. One of the ways we bring those past events or experiences back to life is by having memory boxes in the home to jog the thought processes and help everyone remember good times. This week, we had just such a session, and everyone had lots of fun recalling times gone by.

Peaceful Pastimes.....

After the excitement and bustle of Christmas and New Year, it was nice for our residents at Manorfields to settle down to some gentler activities this week. They really enjoyed doing some colouring and jigsaws, whilst looking at the cold weather outside. Both activities are excellent at promoting engagement and helping fine motor skills. Not forgetting to mention that everyone thoroughly enjoyed taking part.

New Year entertainment...

St Peter's residents were treated to another spectacular show this week from wonderful local entertainers Kevin and Marie. They brought a wonderful range of characters to life and had our residents singing and dancing along to the music. A big thank you to them, and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves so much.

Enjoying life in 2026!

Our residents are embracing the New Year and enjoying life as we head through a snowy and cold January. Indoor activities have been the order of the day, and so it was time for an arts & crafts session, combined with doing some jigsaw puzzles. Great for engagement and keeping fine motor skills up to scratch as well as being a lot of fun for everyone!

New Year Nails!

Our lovely Manorfields resident, Janet, decided to have a new look for the new year and get her nails painted. Step up our Activities Coordinator to act as the home's very own nail bar artist! The result can be seen in the pictures - needless to say, Janet was well pleased with her new look!

My Care

My Care is a family owned business that is dedicated to providing high quality care for elderly people across the East Midlands. Our aim is to provide all our residents with safe, friendly and happy homes where they can lead fulfilling lives as part of a loving and caring community.

Everything we do at My Care is centred upon the wellbeing of our residents. All our homes have dedicated and compassionate staff teams to ensure that we not only provide everyone with the individual care they want and need, but also offer advice, friendship and comfort for families.

Our homes offer a variety of different types of care, but across our group we can provide residential care, respite care, nursing care, and more specialist care for those people living with dementia. We hope that we can help you to find the home that is just right for you or your loved one.

We encourage you to take a look at the types of care we provide and our approach to helping and supporting people in later life. Each of our homes has its own page where you can find out what makes them all special places to live.
