A Special Day.....

Remembrance Day is always a special time in the lives of our residents... they all look forward to marking it each year. This week, alongside remembering the fallen, Willow Tree House also celebrated the Second World War era with a lovely concert from local entertainers Kevin and Marie. They're regular visitors to the home and never fail to put on a fantastic show. Of course, we needed snacks to fortify us, and so puff pastry poppies were the order of the day. We hope you were able to mark the day in your own special way.

Marking Remembrance Day

Amongst our care homes, Remembrance Day holds deep significance. Several residents have family histories touched by war, and today we will listen as they share memories from the past. All our homes will hold a period of silence and make sure that we honour the sacrifice of people in the two World Wars and other conflicts. We hope that going forward we can all learn to live in a more peaceful and harmonious world. We should never forget the sacrifices of those who fought so that we can live as freely as we do today.

Recreating past enjoyment....

One of our lovely residents used to love painting Watercolors. So we decided to help them rekindle that experience and enjoyment. By buying some easy to use watercolour pencils and things to colour they were back being creative. They had a lot of fun and it brought their love for art back to life.

Marking Remembrance Day

Recently at Edward House, we held an activity that all of our residents wanted to get involved in. Making Poppy displays for last Sunday's parade proved incredibly popular, and there were some lovely creations on display. It brought everyone together, and there were lots of shared memories.

Battling across the Board....

Our lovely residents at The Ruddington like nothing better than some friendly competition over a board game or two. They chose the classic Ludo for this week's battle. A game that some of our younger readers may not be familiar with, but back in the day, it was all the rage. Despite there being some competitive spirit on show, it never got in the way of our residents' friendship and laughter. A lovely way of bringing people together.

Hubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble....

Halloween week was certainly enjoyed by the residents of Balmore Country House. In particular, our ladies loved dressing up in their witches' hats and causing no end of trouble for everyone! Just joking - they are the nicest set of witches you will ever meet. Everyone enjoyed the decorations around the home and joining in the spooky fun all week!

Darts Champion!

A big welcome to our new resident, Sandra. She recently came to live at St Peter's, and on her first day she won our darts tournament! She was over the moon. Apparently she used to play darts with her husband, and she can not wait to tell him she won! Well done Sandra and it's lovely to have you at St Peter's - we hope you will be very happy here.

Firework Fun.....

Yes, it's the 5th November, and that means Fireworks! Our lovely residents at Edward House decided to have a go at sketching and colouring their ideal firework displays. There was a lot of creativity on display as usual, and everyone is certainly hoping to see something similar for real tonight. This was a great activity for engagement, fine motor skills, as well as being a lot of fun.

Halloween Fun!

Our residents and staff at Manorfields had a fantastic time at the end of last week when we held our Halloween Party. There were loads of spooky decorations, costumes, food, and music for everyone to enjoy. Fun and laughter was the order of the afternoon and everyone said they would like to have a Halloween Party every month! Well there's a little thing called Christmas coming, so maybe we better get that out of the way first!

Something to cuddle....

We all like something to cuddle now and again, and for some of our residents, having a tactile and sensory experience that comforts is a crucial part of them feeling safe and secure. Here is a picture of our lovely resident Ann, who is very pleased with her new cat Percy. We are sure Percy will be getting lots of cuddles and will be a constant comforting presence by her side.

Halloween creativity.....

Our lovely residents at Edward House always enjoy an Arts and crafts session, and this week was no exception. With Halloween nearly upon us, they decided to do some spooky colouring. There were some lovely pictures created and we will enjoy seeing them around the home over the coming few days....if we can fight our way through the ghosts, ghouls and pumpkins!

Tony's trip out....

Our lovely Edward House resident Tony had a fun trip out recently. He went shopping to the Range for all things Christmasy. Of course we had to stop off and get a couple of treats as well. Well, why wouldn't you? Tony really enjoyed himself and can certainly recommend the range for their Xmas selection.

My Care

My Care is a family owned business that is dedicated to providing high quality care for elderly people across the East Midlands. Our aim is to provide all our residents with safe, friendly and happy homes where they can lead fulfilling lives as part of a loving and caring community.

Everything we do at My Care is centred upon the wellbeing of our residents. All our homes have dedicated and compassionate staff teams to ensure that we not only provide everyone with the individual care they want and need, but also offer advice, friendship and comfort for families.

Our homes offer a variety of different types of care, but across our group we can provide residential care, respite care, nursing care, and more specialist care for those people living with dementia. We hope that we can help you to find the home that is just right for you or your loved one.

We encourage you to take a look at the types of care we provide and our approach to helping and supporting people in later life. Each of our homes has its own page where you can find out what makes them all special places to live.
