What a wonderful way to get creative !!

Play-Doh is not only good fun, but also the perfect activity for keeping our residents' fine motor skills in tip-top condition. Here, at Edward House, everyone had a great time making their creations, and there were a lot of laughs when things didn't always turn out right the first time! But we think practice made perfect, and there were some lovely results.

Our talented Edward House resident, Chris, shared his drawings with us today. He is a super keen artist and is often to be found working hard at his art. What a creative pastime and brilliant for encouraging engagement. We think Chris's artwork deserves a round of applause, and he should be very proud of his collected works.

A lovely trip out....

Two of our residents at The Ruddington, who are Mother and Son, had a wonderful day out in the sunshine this week to celebrate Mum's Birthday. The centre of Nottingham did them proud, and they had a lovely lunch as well as enjoying some sunbathing in Market Square. It was great to see them enjoying their day so much.

Make May Purple!.....

We are celebrating May as Purple Month in an effort to fundraise for the Stroke Association. We have some things to purchase in reception, pin badges and bags of sweets. We have a prize quiz, guess the names of teddy bears, how many sweets in a jar, and a raffle. On top of all that, we have an afternoon tea with live entertainment booked for the 28th of May, when winners will be announced. Put the date in your diary - it's all for a great cause.

Great work Nicola!

A gold star was given to our Willow Tree House carer, Nicola, today. Last week we did a spot quiz and identified that she could benefit from some training to improve her knowledge around the Mental Capacity Act and deprivation of liberty issues. Rather than wait for that to be organised, Nicola, in her own time, read up on all the identified issues and today proudly shared her knowledge with other staff members. It's fantastic when a team member is motivated like this, and she is now amazingly knowledgeable on all things MCA and DOLS. What a great attitude and an inspiration to us all!

Decade Day.......

We don't know if this event will only be held once in a decade, but judging by how much fun everyone had, we think it could become an annual occasion. Recently, at St Peter's, staff and residents dressed up in outfits from a decade of their choice. We had lovely entertainer, Nicky, come in and sing us some songs from the various decades, which brought back a lot of memories. Residents, staff, and family had a brilliant time, so we're sure we will do it again!
