Getting ready for Christmas.....

At Moriah House, residents and staff have been hard at work making the home look festive. They all had a great time sorting through the decorations and deciding what should go where. There's more to come but already the home feels really Christmasy...now we're just waiting for Santa to make an appearance!

Fantastic Achievements....

Here at Orchard House, we are so proud of two of our staff members.

Firstly, congratulations to Gina, who has passed her Level 3 in Care. Gina has been with us for seven years, and she always works hard and shows real dedication and compassion.
Secondly, congratulations to Rachel, who has achieved her Level 3 as a Cook.

Well done to both of you!

Christmas Creativity....

Our residents are already getting into the Christmas spirit at Edward House. This week, they have been involved in a lovely Arts and Crafts session where they were making cards for their loved ones. Lots of fun and great for helping with engagement and fine motor skills.

It's beginning to feel a lot like.....

And to complete the Christmasy feel, Edward House is going to switch its Christmas Lights on and throw a little party to which you're all invited! There will be food, drink, music, and lots of Christmas cheer - what's not to like? We hope to see you on the 1st December between 6pm and 8pm.

Eye down for a full house....

At Willow Tree House we have a new bingo machine, and residents really enjoyed playing last week. The session was part of our newly organised Monthly Prize Bingo competition, organised by our Care Coordinator Leanne. Our lovely resident Sylvia won the line, Alan won 2 lines, and Sue got the full house!
We have no doubt the machine will be out on a regular basis, as everyone thoroughly enjoyed playing.

A Puzzling time!

Here at Willow Tree House, we have been lucky enough to receive a large donation of jigsaws recently from the family of one of our residents. We are all working together to complete one - not as easy as they look!

Musical moments.....

Our residents at Orchard House were treated to a wonderful performance last week by a new entertainer to the home - a saxophone player, Joy. She came to play for our residents, and they really enjoyed hearing her music. They loved the music, and are looking forward to having her back.

A Special Day.....

Remembrance Day is always a special time in the lives of our residents... they all look forward to marking it each year. This week, alongside remembering the fallen, Willow Tree House also celebrated the Second World War era with a lovely concert from local entertainers Kevin and Marie. They're regular visitors to the home and never fail to put on a fantastic show. Of course, we needed snacks to fortify us, and so puff pastry poppies were the order of the day. We hope you were able to mark the day in your own special way.

Marking Remembrance Day

Amongst our care homes, Remembrance Day holds deep significance. Several residents have family histories touched by war, and today we will listen as they share memories from the past. All our homes will hold a period of silence and make sure that we honour the sacrifice of people in the two World Wars and other conflicts. We hope that going forward we can all learn to live in a more peaceful and harmonious world. We should never forget the sacrifices of those who fought so that we can live as freely as we do today.

Recreating past enjoyment....

One of our lovely residents used to love painting Watercolors. So we decided to help them rekindle that experience and enjoyment. By buying some easy to use watercolour pencils and things to colour they were back being creative. They had a lot of fun and it brought their love for art back to life.

Marking Remembrance Day

Recently at Edward House, we held an activity that all of our residents wanted to get involved in. Making Poppy displays for last Sunday's parade proved incredibly popular, and there were some lovely creations on display. It brought everyone together, and there were lots of shared memories.

Battling across the Board....

Our lovely residents at The Ruddington like nothing better than some friendly competition over a board game or two. They chose the classic Ludo for this week's battle. A game that some of our younger readers may not be familiar with, but back in the day, it was all the rage. Despite there being some competitive spirit on show, it never got in the way of our residents' friendship and laughter. A lovely way of bringing people together.

My Care

My Care is a family owned business that is dedicated to providing high quality care for elderly people across the East Midlands. Our aim is to provide all our residents with safe, friendly and happy homes where they can lead fulfilling lives as part of a loving and caring community.

Everything we do at My Care is centred upon the wellbeing of our residents. All our homes have dedicated and compassionate staff teams to ensure that we not only provide everyone with the individual care they want and need, but also offer advice, friendship and comfort for families.

Our homes offer a variety of different types of care, but across our group we can provide residential care, respite care, nursing care, and more specialist care for those people living with dementia. We hope that we can help you to find the home that is just right for you or your loved one.

We encourage you to take a look at the types of care we provide and our approach to helping and supporting people in later life. Each of our homes has its own page where you can find out what makes them all special places to live.
