I qualified in therapeutic massage with the Association of Physical and Natural Therapists in 1992. My massage approach is to find and ease the tight, possibly tender, areas of the body and help my client to determine the possible causes. My massage technique aims to apply a gentle stretch to the tight tissues with deepening pressure to meet the client’s perfect pressure – that is their 5/10 – no
heavier no lighter. As tight muscles (the knots of contracted muscle tissue are called trigger points), tendons, ligaments and fascia loosen fluids can move more freely, joint mobility is improved and aches and pains are eased. Massages are with high quality organic coconut or grapeseed base oils and Mayfield lavender essential oil. Towels are warmed and the room comfortably warm usually with a welcoming wood fire. A massage chair is available as an alternative to the couch
Clients may be advised to consult their GP or Consultant to determine if a massage is appropriate for their condition or if any concerns arise during a treatment. Clients are encouraged to continue gently loosening their trigger points before stretching.
