Is pain really your enemy?
In this week’s episode of Feel Learn Grow, Ben Scott invites us to look at pain a little differently.

What if pain isn’t there to punish us — but to guide us?
Maybe it’s time we start rethinking how we perceive pain and what it really means to us.

This one’s a gentle reminder that listening to our pain can open the door to real healing and growth.

✨ This week’s habit: calm your nervous system ✨
Try practicing box breathing (inhale 4, hold 4, exhale 4, hold 4).
AND commit to 1 activity just for you each day—whether it’s 10 minutes of reading, a hot bath, or a walk.

These small acts of self-care can make a huge difference 💜.🧘‍♀️ Stress management is essential in peri- and post-menopause, but truthfully—it’s essential for us all.

Box breathing activates your body’s “rest & digest” system. Daily self-care lowers stress hormones (like cortisol), supporting:
✔️ Better sleep
✔️ Improved digestion
✔️ Calmer mood

🌟 Lower stress = clearer mind, healthier body, stronger resilience. A gift at any age or stage. 👉 What’s one thing you’ll do just for you today?

✨ This week’s habit: upgrade your nutrition ✨
Challenge yourself to try 3 new plants this week—anything from veggies, fruits, beans, nuts, herbs, or spices.

Your gut microbiome loves variety, and variety = vitality 🌱. Eating a wide variety of whole foods can:
✔️ Reduce inflammation (linked to joint pain, hot flushes, and brain fog)
✔️ Support digestion and energy levels
✔️ Balance blood sugar and hormones

A great goal is 30 different plants per week—and yes, herbs and spices count! 🧄🌿

🌟 This simple upgrade supports gut, brain, and body health for everyone.

✨ This week’s habit: train for strength and vitality ✨

Movement is about more than walking—it’s about challenging your body in ways that support long-term health:
💪 Resistance training (think squats, weights, bands) to strengthen muscles and protect bone health.
⚡ Sprint intervals (short bursts of faster movement, like 20 seconds of brisk walking or cycling) to boost heart and metabolic health.
🦘 Plyometrics (jump-based exercises) to improve balance, bone density, and coordination.

👉 Try this beginner plyometric move:
Stand with feet wider than shoulder-width, slightly turned out. Squat down until your hips drop below knee level, arms behind you. Quickly extend your legs, swing your arms forward and jump into the air. Land softly and go straight into another squat.

✨ This week’s habit: improve your sleep hygiene ✨
Try leaving your phone to charge in another room overnight. No more doom scrolling before bed 🙅‍♀️. This small shift helps your body unwind and makes it easier to fall asleep.

Better sleep = better energy, mood, and resilience. 🌙

😴 Sleep is not a luxury—it’s a foundation for health. During peri- and post-menopause, poor sleep can worsen hot flushes, brain fog, and mood changes. By reducing screen time before bed, you’ll:
✔️ Calm your nervous system
✔️ Support hormone balance
✔️ Improve recovery and energy for the next day

✨ These benefits apply to all of us—sleep is a non-negotiable for brain and body health at any stage of life.

🌞 Why Vitamin D Matters for Your Health 🌞
Did you know your body can't make vitamin D without sun exposure? In the UK, this makes supplementation essential for optimal health!
✅ Strengthens bones, teeth & muscles
✅ Supports cardiovascular health & heart function
✅ Boosts mood & mental wellbeing
✅ Reduces chronic inflammation & associated pain
✅ Regulates calcium absorption (works best with K2!)
✅ Reduces risk of deficiency issues like osteomalacia
The K2 Connection: Vitamin D needs K2 to properly absorb and direct calcium to your bones – not your arteries. This powerful duo supports both skeletal AND heart health! 💪❤️
NHS Guidance:
📅 October-March: Everyone should consider daily 10mcg (400 IU) supplements
🎯 Higher risk groups may need year-round supplementation

💪✨ Today I hit a big milestone, a 100kg deadlift!
This was a goal I set at the start of the year, and it feels incredible to see the hard work pay off.
🎯 Goals are so important. When they’re achievable, measurable, and time bound, they give you something to focus on and work towards. Without them, life can feel a bit overwhelming. But when you have a clear target and you reach it the sense of accomplishment is priceless.
At the clinic, I love seeing patients set goals too – whether it’s reducing pain, improving movement, or getting back to doing the things they love. With the right plan, support, and consistency, amazing results happen.
🙌 Here’s to setting goals, chasing them, and celebrating the wins – big or small.
