Lovabelle South Shields HQ

Lovabelle South Shields HQ Developmental baby class (suitable from birth to pre-walking). Formerly known as Sensory Explorers. Hi I’m Gem, the founder of Lovabelle (2015).

I’m a qualified Infant Massage and Baby Yoga Instructor and have worked in education for many years. I studied child development and have a great insight into babies brain development and the importance of early bonds and attachments with parents and caregivers. I left my job as a Tutor in August 2015 after my maternity leave ended and I made the decision to start up a gorgeous little business called Sensory Explorers. After 8 successful years and thousands of babies through our doors, it was time to expand and share our classes with others. We renamed the business Lovabelle which you now all know and love and now run a s a Franchise. I am so excited to meet all of you and your little ones to pass on my knowledge and share those magical moments with you and your baby. We are a Parent and Baby Group designed to encourage your babies physical and brain development. Babies are born with many sensory pathways in their brains which disappear if they are not reinforced. Lovabelle's carefully selected activities encourage the use of all babies senses (including their vestibular development which will improve balance) reinforcing those sensory pathways and helping little ones to develop and reach key milestones such as sitting, crawling and even talking. Our baby room at Lovabelle HQ is fully equipped with its own sensory area full of developmental equipment and sensory stations for babies to freely explore. The structured activities your baby will be introduced to include music & movement, messy play, action songs, massage / yoga, visual shows and much more fun! I am fully trained in Infant Massage & Baby Yoga, DBS checked, first aid trained and fully insured. Lovabelle is a proud member of The Children’s Activities Association giving you peace of mind that your baby is in the best hands. I hope to hear from you soon

🫶💜 For our NICU & Transitional Care families 🤍

If your journey into motherhood began in NICU or transitional care, you’ll know how comforting it is to spend time with people who truly understand that start.

Together with Tiny Lives Trust we offer fully funded sensory classes for families who’ve shared that experience.

These sessions offer:
✨ gentle sensory play for your baby
✨ time to meet, chat and connect with an incredible community of parents who understand 🫶
✨ a warm, welcoming space where you can simply be with your baby

Families in this class just get it.
We understand what corrected age means.
We know that weaning isn’t just about food – it can mean coming off oxygen, monitors, or medication.
We understand why some babies may not have been held by anyone other than mam and dad yet, because infection control has been drilled into us from day one. We just get it and have built such a wonderful little community.

📍 Every Wednesday 11:45
📍 Our beautiful baby room, South Shields
💛 Completely free classes thanks to Tiny Lives

All you need to do is click the link and scroll to Wednesday at Lovabelle to book your space for our upcoming term starting next week.

If NICU or transitional care is part of your story, you and your baby are so welcome here 🤍

📚A little throwback to one of my gorgeous Nephew’s at our world book day class! 📖

He’s 4 years old now and I still remember taking this photo like it was yesterday!

World Book Day always brings back the best memories — favourite stories, dressing up (or not!), and sharing books we love with our little ones. It’s such a special way to spark imagination right from the very beginning.

We’re celebrating World Book Day in classes all next week, with a gorgeous story-inspired theme. Bring along your baby’s favourite book, and if you fancy dressing up too, you’re very welcome — but just coming as you are is perfect.

I can’t wait to see what stories we’ll be sharing this year 🤍

Dads this one’s for you! — these classes aren’t just for m**s.

Lovabelle is relaxed, fun (without the cheesy bits) and a genuinely lovely way to spend your morning with your baby. No awkward singing, no frills — just time together in a calm, welcoming space.

The class flies by… you’ll barely notice the time.

Perfect for dads and grandads — anyone bringing baby along 🤍

📚 World Book Day at Lovabelle 📚

We’re celebrating our love of books all week from 3rd–5th March and we can’t wait to dive into stories, imagination and adventure with your little ones.

Fancy dress is definitely encouraged — come along as your favourite book character if you’d like (but it’s absolutely not essential). Bring a favourite book along to class too and we’ll weave stories into our sensory play.

Our sessions will be inspired by The Three Little Pigs — a firm favourite, full of imagination, movement and playful adventures that babies love to watch, listen to and explore.

📖 Why reading with babies matters:
💜 Reading supports early language development — babies learn rhythm, sounds and patterns long before they can talk
💜 Sharing books helps build strong bonds through closeness, voice and shared attention

And yes… I’m a total bookworm too 🤍 so this week always feels extra special.

I can’t wait to see which characters join us in class ✨

Today our babies explored sensory bunting with little hands and feet, giving babies the chance to feel so many different textures, fabrics, sounds and colours.
Each foot contains around 7,000–8,000 sensory receptors, so barefoot play provides powerful input for your baby’s developing brain.

Using both hands and feet supports body awareness, balance and coordination, while allowing babies to explore confidently and at their own pace.

Watching you and baby interact with each other during this activity was so gorgeous to see 💜

18/02/2026

Cross-lateral movements help babies use both sides of their body together, which supports brain connections, coordination, strength, and body awareness 🤍

I’ve been a baby yoga instructor for many years, and I absolutely love helping your little ones explore movement in a safe, gentle, and nurturing way.

Such an easy and fun stretch to try at home with your little ones 💜

What Can You See, Baby? 👀🫶💜

This week in class we will be focussing on baby’s visual tracking – encouraging them to follow objects with their eyes, reach out, and begin coordinating what they see with how they move.

These simple activities are doing lots of work behind the scenes:
💜 Strengthening the tiny muscles that control baby’s eye movement
💜 Supporting hand–eye coordination
💜 Helping build the foundations for focus, balance, and later skills like reading and writing 🥹📚

With gentle movement, lots of visuals, and the freedom to explore, learning happens naturally as our babies play 💜

While most classes have waiting lists, we do have 4 spaces remaining across the rest of the term if you’d like to join us 🫶

Every month I have the absolute pleasure of working in partnership with a local nursery, delivering sensory sessions for their babies in our gorgeous baby room. Myself and the staff always look forward to this time together and it’s a collaboration we all really value.

I’m also sharing a then-and-now moment 🥹. This gorgeous girl once attended my classes with her lovely mam and is now back again through her nursery. I can’t even explain how lovely it is to see her again, all grown up and thriving with her little nursery friends.

I feel like the luckiest girl this week 💜

Our Story

My name is Gemma and I am the founder of Sensory Explorers. I am a qualified teacher of 7 years and studied child development for 6 years. I have a great insight into babies brain development and the importance of early bonds and attachments with parents and caregivers. I left my job as a Teacher in August 2015 after my maternity leave ended and made the decision to start Sensory Explorers. I attended several baby groups with my son and not only did they help his development, but it gave me the chance to meet other m**s who I remained good friends with. I am so excited to meet all of you parents and your little explorers to pass on my knowledge and share magical moments with you at Sensory Explorers. Sensory Explorers is a Parent and Baby Group designed to encourage your babies physical and brain development. Babies are born with many sensory pathways in their brains which disappear if they are not reinforced. Sensory Explorers select activities in their sessions which encourage use of all of the five senses reinforcing all of your babies sensory pathways and help your little explorers to develop and reach key milestones such as sitting, crawling or even talking. These activities include messy play, music, exercising, sensory domes and much more fun! I hope to hear from you soon
