Our Senior Head Chef, Joy has been trying out some of her new recipes that she took inspiration from while attending a fortification workshop hosted by Food Buy with all of the Senior Head Chef at Barchester.

It's important to ensure that our resident have the tastiest and most filling snacks throughout the day and with these smoothies they certainly have that.

Residents and one of the nurses visiting really enjoyed the smoothies. We had a chocolate oranges topped with cream of crushed Oreo and a mango, pineapple, ginger and orange topped fudge pieces. Maureen who was one of the first to try the chocolate smoothies said it was absolutely beautiful.

Today Cindy, Ingrid and Linda, who have donated some wonderful craft to the home, came along to make some Christmas chains with the residents. The chains have turned out so well we decided to get the Christmas decorations started early and put them up in our dining room. We are all feeling very merry now that they are up.

Thank you ladies for a lovely morning and we hope to see you again soon.

Maureen, Sheila and Ammina have been busy this week making Ginger Snaps. They turned out a little flatter than we would have liked but they tasted wonderful and we even put a little more ginger in that the recipe said because we love the taste of it. It is great to be using our new living kitchen for our baking club.

Neil came to Harton again today to continue work on our wooden Christmas trees. There was a big group with Phemie, Alan, Annie, Nancy, Dot, David and Alan and his wife Maureen who came along to make the trees. We have decided that we will cover them with fake snow from the top to make it look like a winter scene. Thanks a lot Neil for the fun afternoon and such a unique idea. 🔨

Today Dennis, David and Les who are all veterans went along to the West Park for a service for Armistice day. It was a emotional event but all three were honoured to be able to be there. Les served in the Army, David served in the RAF an Dennis served in the Home guard in WW2. After the service we were invited to the Veteran Hut to meet other veterans and also the deputy mayor.

We all send our thanks to all those currently serving, those who have served and those who did not make it home. Lest We Forget

On this Remembrance Sunday all of us at Harton Grange are honouring all the British and Commonwealth Armed Forces.

This year we have been lucky enough to make new friendships with some of our local veterans and to help our veterans connect with them and form strong bonds.

Today is a day of remembrance and a emotional day for many. So to all those who have served, are currently serving and to those who gave their life so we can be safe here at home, to all the fathers, mothers, sons, daughter, dear friends and family we send our heartfelt thanks.

"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them"

🎃 Halloween Celebrations 🎃

Residents, patients and colleagues got into the Halloween spirit of things by creating beautiful autumnal displays with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.

Many of our care homes and hospitals hosted fun-filled Halloween events with delicious treats, mocktails, live music entertainment, costume competitions and community celebrations.

It's safe to say that everyone had a spooktacular time. 👻

Here are some of our favourite moments.

👻🎃 Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats 👻🎃

Springvale Court Care Home, in Wrekenton, , was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween Adams Family got into full swing.

Colleagues embraced the spirit of Halloween by dressing up as The Addams Family. Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt and Lurch all visited Trinity Square in Gateshead town centre to hand out goodie bags for children and adults, and everyone had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Addams Family.

General Manager, Gemma Rooney, shared: “Our staff love any excuse for fancy dress day! – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

The team at Springvale Court commented: “It has been such a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. And seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces’’.

🔍 Thursday Night Murder Club at Caldy Manor 🕵️‍♀️

It was an evening to remember at Caldy Manor Care Home on the as residents, colleagues and friends from Heswall & District Ladies Circle turned detectives, suspects and stars in the home’s very own Thursday Murder Club-themed evening.

Inspired by Richard Osman’s much-loved mystery novels, there were hilarious plot twists and some truly Oscar-worthy performances, the night was packed with laughs and fantastic acting from everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all, the experience was a roaring success.

Safe to say… no one saw the ending coming! 😉
