❌Since declaring a Climate Emergency in 2019 South Tyneside Council has actually delivered a number of really positive environmental initiatives that deserve some recognition.
These include:
▫️ The Viking Energy Network in Jarrow using renewable technology to provide low-carbon heating.
▫️ Solar panels installed on council buildings and energy efficiency upgrades across all of the borough.
▫️ Improvements to council homes to help reduce fuel poverty and cut emissions.
▫️Increased focus on protecting and improving nature, biodiversity, wildlife habitats across South Tyneside.
🌱 Tree planting, habitat enhancement and lots of support for greener public spaces.
▫️Work on coastal resilience and flood prevention to help protect communities from impacts on climate change.
⚡ Embedding lots of climate considerations into council planning and decision-making.

Climate action works best when it improves people’s everyday lives too with warmer homes, lower energy bills, cleaner air, more green spaces and protection for future generations.

There is always so much more to do but it’s important to recognise meaningful progress when it happens.

In my early clinic days I became known as The Womb Whisperer because I had such a great deal of success in my practice supporting people on their journey to becoming parents.
