Dry Cupping in Sports Massage. How can it help? 🤔
Dry cupping is one of those tools I like to sometimes integrate into a sports massage session (with consent of the client) when I’m working on areas that feel particularly tight or overworked. It’s not something I use on its own, but rather as a complement to the sports massage to aid in helping the muscles relax and recover more effectively.
Here are 3 potential benefits of adding cupping into a massage 👇
💨 1. Boosts Blood Flow
The gentle suction helps draw blood toward the surface, which can improve local circulation. This may help bring more oxygen and nutrients to the muscles which can be great for recovery after tough training sessions.
💪 2. Helps Ease Muscle Tension
By gently lifting the skin and fascia, cupping can help release areas of tightness and restriction. It’s a nice way to decompress the tissue, which can make movement feel smoother and more comfortable.
🧠 3. May Reduce Soreness and Pain
Cupping might also help with muscle pain and DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) by stimulating the nerves and calming the body’s pain response which can leave you feeling lighter and less fatigued.
Used as a tool alongside traditional sports massage, dry cupping can be a useful recovery and performance tool to help keep your body moving and feeling its best.
*Dry cupping comes at no extra cost to the price of your sports massage 🙂
