It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our much loved dad, Terry, who passed away peacefully in hospital on Friday 10th April, aged 64, following a sudden illness, surrounded by his loved ones. Dad to Christopher, Charlotte, Camille and Chandler, and Grandad to Kara, Theo, Joseph and Albert.
Terry was a big character, living life full of colour. A true free spirit who found happiness in music, laughter, painting, camping and nature. He leaves behind many special memories that will be treasured always. He will be missed so much and forever remembered with love by all who knew and loved him.
Terry’s final journey will take place at South Shields Crematorium on Tuesday 5th May at 12:30pm, followed by a celebration of his life at Murray’s Club, Fellgate Avenue, NE32 4LZ. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, can be made at the service in memory of our dad to Asthma + Lung UK. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts 💔

Margaret Rose Bond (née McCulla)

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Margaret Rose Bond (née McCulla), who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on 5th April 2026.

Please meet for the funeral service on Thursday 30th April 2026.
The service will be held at Hebburn Cemetery Chapel at 10:15am, followed by burial at Hebburn Cemetery.

Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.

After the service all are welcome back to The Red Hackle , Perth Avenue. To continue the celebration of Margaret's life.

Muriel Ridley, née Mackey
79 years old

Wife to the late Harry (Henry) Ridley, mother to Angela and Harry, Nanna to the late Kayley halliday, Kim, Chloe and Kye, and great nanna to Ellie, Sophie, Aimee, Lola and Isaac.

Passed away with her loving family by her side, 31st March 2026, after a very quick illness at South Tyneside Hospital.

No specific dress code, she loved bright colours, she was always seen wearing many layers, and loved a good cardigan! So if you have one feel free to wear it to the funeral!

Funeral service to be held at South Shields Crematorium, Wednesday 22nd April, 12.30pm followed by a wake at The Grey Hen.

Family flowers only, please, there will be a donation box at the Crematorium raising money to the families chosen charity, Marie Curie.

Graham David MacGregor, of South Shields, sadly passed away on 2nd April 2026, aged 57, after a courageous battle.

Graham will be greatly missed by all his loving friends and everyone who knew him.

Please join us for the funeral service on Thursday 23rd April 2026 at South Shields Crematorium at 12:30pm.

Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, are in aid of St Benedict’s Hospice and may be given at the service.

All are welcome to return afterwards to South Shields Football Club (Marquee) to continue celebrating Grahams life.

Kindly note that traditional black attire is requested.

Remembering Rachel a loving mam, daughter, niece, sister, and auntie – taken far too soon at just 44. We are absolutely devastated by this loss, and life will never be the same without her. She brought so much love, warmth, and laughter into our lives, and her memory will stay with us forever.

Rachel, you were truly one of a kind. We will miss you more than words can ever say. Sleep peacefully 💕🕊️

Her funeral will take place on Saturday 25th April at 10:30am at South Shields Crematorium.

Afterwards, we will gather at The Shack, Boldon Colliery to celebrate her life and share memories together. Dress code: Smart attire. Leopard print, red or purple tones, or classic all black are warmly encouraged to reflect Rachel’s spirit.

All who knew and loved Rachel are welcome.

Sadly passed away peacefully in Hospital on the 25th March 2026.

Beloved mother of Jeff and Kevin, sister to Stan, the late Blanche, Alfie and Joan. Auntie to Pat and Christine and late partner to Simon. Also great auntie, and nanna to Mia-Angelita and Declan and good friend to Jan. Maureen will be sadly missed by all her friends in The Simonside Club.

Could all friends and family please meet for service on Tuesday 21st April 2026 at Harton Cemetery Chapel at 2:15pm., followed by Interment intro Harton Cemetery.

Rose McGee (nee Howells)

It is with great sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we share news of the passing of Rose McGee, who passed away peacefully with family by her side, following a short illness on Tuesday 31st March, aged 80 years.

Wife to Dave, cherished mam to Angela and Sheena and mother in law to Michael, much loved grandma to Charlotte, Emily and Naomi and proud great grandma to Lilah.
Rose will be deeply missed by all her family and friends but her strength, spirit, love, humour and laughter will live on in all of us.

The funeral will take place at South Shields Crematorium on Monday 27th April 2026 at 11:15am, and afterwards at Boldon Park Hotel, Boldon, NE35 9PE. All are welcome to join us in celebrating her life and sharing memories. Family flowers only please, donations if desired specifically to Cedar unit, at Haven court, South Shields.

Norman Ghales

It’s with a very heavy heart and great sadness to announce our lovely Norman Ghales sadly passed away on Tuesday the 31st of March 2026 aged 74.

He was a devoted husband of the late Brenda , a loving father/stepfather , a beloved grand father and adored great grand father and a great friend to all who knew him.

Norman will be truly missed by all of his devoted family and friends. He brought so much humour and light into everyone’s life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and respect. They are no words to truly say how much you meant to us all. We will all treasure every memory we shared with you. Rest in peace Norman. Never forgotten.

Norman’s funeral will take place on Tuesday 28th April 2026 at Harton Cemetery at 12.15 pm which will celebrate Norman, all is welcome to attend Cleadon club afterwards to celebrate Norman’s life.

COOK – Derek (“Cooky”)
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Derek on 1st April, aged 56 years, after a year long battle which he fought with courage and tenacity.

A loving Dad to Shaun and Ryan, a father-in-law to Emma and a special Granda D to Leon, Cody, Freya, Lacey, Harper and Hudson.

A much loved son to Alan and the late Lyn, a treasured brother to the late Kev, Deb, Ed and Alan a special brother-in-law to Lynn, Gary, Lucy and Sue, an unforgettable Uncle to Nicola, Nathan, Nyah, Myah & Ben

Derek was truly one of a kind—an incredible storyteller with a sharp wit, an infectious smile, and a huge kind heart, his mantra was if it was his it was yours!

He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him and while his life may not have been long it was full of purpose with his generosity extending beyond his last heartbeat.

Derek loved nature and being in the great outdoors, we take comfort in knowing he is back in the arms of his precious Mam and his brother Kev, roaming pain-free, no doubt dodging the tides at Marsden beach, his childhood playground and a place he held close to his heart.

A huge thank you to Louise Miles "A true Diamond" who went up and beyond and became our friend also to the dedicated team at The Cedar Unit at Haven Court Hospice who cared for Derek with dignity in his final days .

In keeping with Derek’s wishes, a private funeral will take place. Derek had the benefit of Marie Curie care so it is fitting that should anyone wish to make a donation in his memorry we support the amazing work they do https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/donate

Lynda Rose Ewen

Lynda passed away peacefully on March 31 2026 aged 92yrs. She was surrounded by her loving family and will be missed so much by us all. Lynda was a loving mother to Stephen and Carole and step-mother to Neil, mother in law to Valerie, Peter and Jak. Ever loving wife to Sam, adored grandma to Rebecca, Jake, Evan, Olivia and Dylan and a wonderful great grandma to Harrison.
Being from a family of nine, very close brothers and sisters, Lynda had a lot of nieces and nephews too, several who were by her side to say their goodbyes. It will be comforting to know she’ll be reunited with all her siblings and having a big ‘Urwin’ family get together once again.
The funeral will be held on April 24th 2026 at 11.15am at South Shields Crematorium then afterwards at Bravi, South Shields.
