Recent activities at St Anne’s 💚

For National Bird Song Day, residents enjoyed colouring and displaying beautiful birds around the home 🐦

We’ve also been making the most of the lovely weather with walks along the seafront, alongside quizzes and games in the lounges.

Jimmy, who was once a champion bowler, also spent some time teaching Archie and Maurice a thing or two! 😁

This week at Westoe Grange... 💚

Residents have been making the most of the sunshine with a bit of gardening and time outdoors.

We also celebrated John’s birthday before he headed out to the pub for a drink with his friend Henry 🎉

Our arts and crafts club has been busy making decorations for St George’s Day.

This month, staff were recognised with a team reward, with everyone receiving a thank you pen in appreciation of their hard work and dedication.

This week at Princess House 💚

We’ve been making the most of the sunshine with walks along the seafront at Seaburn. Olive especially enjoyed her one-to-one time, stopping off at Seaburn Inn for a latte ☕

Langley House highlights 💚

We love starting the day with our morning “wake up and shake up” at Langley House, a great way to get everyone moving.

Residents had a fantastic time with line dancing lessons, followed by a country and western themed party with James and Sharon Cardon, which brought plenty of music and energy.

There’s also been time for volleyball, dominoes, a visit from the library, and a relaxing pamper Sunday where the ladies enjoyed having their nails done.

This week at Springfield Lodge... 💚

We’ve been enjoying a mix of activities including dancing, colouring, word searches and dominoes.

Irena and Margaret got creative making paper flowers using kitchen roll, while June and Gloria tried a new game of The Price is Right, guessing the cost of everyday items today, with a few surprises along the way.

We also celebrated Pauline’s birthday! 🎂

A big thank you to Tesco Durham for kindly donating frozen food items. We’re very grateful and look forward to enjoying them 😋

Westoe Grange highlights 💚

We marked National Tea Day by trying a variety of different flavours, some were a big hit, while others were a bit more surprising ☕

The ladies also enjoyed a few hours out at the local pub, relaxing with a drink or a cup of tea.

A big thank you to Claire, Terri and the families who helped support the outing, and to the staff at the Westoe for making everyone feel so welcome.

This week at The Gardens 💚

This week we said an emotional farewell to Lottie and Margo, our much-loved therapy dogs. A big thank you to Jill and Chris for their visits over the past four and a half years, they have meant a great deal to our residents.

To lift spirits, we’ve enjoyed some singalongs, with The White Cliffs of Dover proving a firm favourite 🎶

With spring in the air, residents have been getting creative with seasonal crafts, and we also marked St George’s Day with a fun game of “slay the dragon” ping pong.

Langley House highlights 💚

We held our first monthly veterans’ coffee morning, which was a great success. A big thank you to veterans Dawn and Andrew for coming along, and to the Horden Community Events Association for their support. Everyone enjoyed spending time together over pie, chips and peas.

Residents have also been busy in the kitchen making desserts, and enjoyed a lovely walk out to the local park, where we bumped into Edith and Benji.

To round things off, we had an afternoon of singing and dancing with Henry, which was enjoyed by all.

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who kindly donated Easter eggs and goodies for the staff, it’s very much appreciated.

This week at Springfield Lodge 💚

We started the week with some relaxing aqua art before heading to Jubilee Hall for lunch and bingo, always a popular outing.

Back at the home, residents have been keeping active with chair basketball and target games. Margaret enjoyed some one-to-one time having her nails done, while Beryl and Irena spent time knitting together, with Irena sharing how she was taught to knit in Poland.

We also enjoyed making pizzas together, and celebrated Joe’s birthday, which he marked in style with a well-earned beer.

We enjoyed a baking session making an old school cake, which brought back plenty of memories.

Residents reminisced about school days and school dinners, including the firm favourite, pink custard.
