Support systems are vital ❤️
For my last post of Eating Disorder Awareness Week 2026 I wanted to talk about supporting a loved with with an eating disorder, this also applies to those who struggle with food but don’t have a diagnosis.
There’s no perfect script of what to say in this scenario, the important thing is that they know you’re there for them.
Trying to be relaxed neutral about food and bodies is also very helpful to reduce the risk of being triggering.
When you support a loved one with their relationship with food you aren’t expected to take on the role of their therapist and dietitian, so try to make sure they also have the right professional support in place if needed.
And if they don’t have any support currently, the place to start is for them (or their guardian) to speak to their GP ASAP.
You can also set up a free 15-minute discovery call with one of the Eating Disorder Specialist Dietitians in my clinic — comment or DM the word SUPPORT for more information 🫶
and also have lots of great resources related to EDs and supporting loved ones with this.
