The fourth Yama, Brahmacharya, is often translated as moderation or the right use of energy. Rather than pushing, depleting, or scattering ourselves, this principle invites us to become more intentional with where we place our time, attention, and vitality.

When we conserve and channel our energy consciously, we create space for clarity, balance, and deeper connection — both on and off the mat.

How have you been honouring your energy last week?

“The power of yin yoga is in time, not effort.”

Are you yet to discover Yin? ☯️

In Yin Yoga, we hold the poses for a longer time than usual awakening to the more yin qualities of the self.
As we stretch into a pose and let go, we address mostly the connective tissue and the ligaments of the body.

Join me for my next Yin Yoga, the sacred pause event. In this session we will honour the water element which refers to the energy system in Chinese medicine., representing stillness, fluidity, and winter. The associated emotion is Fear, and it is cultivated through practices like Yin Yoga to foster vitality, adaptability, and a deep sense of inner balance and peace. 🪷

✨ Meet Lisa — Studio Owner & Retreat Host ✨

Yoga has deeply affected my life in so many ways — I honestly don’t know where I’d be without it. 🌿 It’s been my grounding force through the hard times, my joy in the good times, and my healing space in the sad ones. My mat is where I always belong — a place of stillness when I need calm, and of energy when I need uplifting. 💫

With over 16 years of teaching experience, my classes bring together everything I love about yoga — meditation, mindfulness, breath awareness, and intention. I always aim to help students feel and sense into their bodies, finding connection and balance within.

I also love to share sacred ceremony and deeper practices within my events and retreats, creating spaces that encourage rest, reflection, and reconnection. 🕊️

📅 Join me in class or on retreat and experience the magic of what yoga can bring — body, mind, and spirit in harmony.

Continuing with the theme of Yamas and Niyamas throughout this term…

Last week we focused on the third and fifth yamas 🧘‍♀️

The third Yama, Asteya (non-stealing), asks us to honour what is not ours — not just in possessions, but in time, energy, and ideas. The fifth Yama, Aparigraha (non-grasping), reminds us to let go of the constant craving for more.

Together, they invite us to trust that we already have enough. When we stop clinging and comparing, we make space for gratitude, generosity, and ease to flow in. 🌿

Throughout my classes I often draw inspiration from CMT (Traditional Chinese Medicine) ☯️

Here are 4 yin yoga postures you can add to your day to tap into the metal element energy within… (which connects us with the season of Autumn and the meridian pair Lungs and Large intestine..)

In my classes this term we are looking at the Yamas and Niyamas, the first 2 limbs of the eightfold path, as described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Yamas are five ethical restraints or "don'ts" in yoga philosophy that guide how to interact with the outside world. They are considered the first of the eight limbs of yoga, emphasizing moral discipline and self-restraint to cultivate inner peace and integrity.

Niyamas are the five observances or positive duties in yoga philosophy, focusing on inner discipline and self-care.

Last week we focused on the first two yamas 🧘‍♀️

Ahimsa (non-violence) and Satya (truthfulness) remind us that our words and actions hold power. Living with compassion doesn’t mean avoiding honesty — it means expressing it with love and awareness.

When truth is guided by kindness, it becomes a force for healing rather than harm. 💫

✨ HeartBeat of the Earth - Shamanic Drumming, Cacao, and Healing Songs ✨

Saturday 29th November, 6-8 pm

We will take some time to learn different drum beats, explore how the rhythm can bring us in to a balanced state of mind, connect to vision, and experience somatic healing.

An informal gathering where we will come together, drink ceremonial cacao connect to the rythym of the Earth. We will sing some medicine songs together, drum together if you like or use a rattle or other percussion instrument. You can sit and recieve or join in as much as you feel like. All is welcome.

These gatherings are a way to connect, express creativity, and experience the joy of drumming, voice and more.

The rhythmic and repetitive nature of drumming can be calming and stress-relieving, there will be a focus on spiritual connection and healing.

All are welcome, no musical experience needed!
Drums will also be provided as this will also be an interactive session as a group.

🌸 Meet Dawn! 🌸

Dawn teaches our monthly Saturday Soothe sessions and steps in as a cover teacher — bringing kindness, compassion, and calm wherever she goes. 💫

Her yoga journey has been a long and winding road! From those first energetic classes at the gym (where she admits she used to rush through relaxation!) to discovering the quieter, more mindful side of yoga, Dawn’s practice has evolved beautifully over time. 🌿

In 2017, she completed her BWY foundation course and went on to train for her 300-hour BWY teacher qualification, following her growing passion to share yoga with others.

Now, her hatha-style classes focus on balance, mindfulness, and meeting yourself exactly where you are — no competition, just connection. ✨

📅 Join Dawn for Saturday Soothe and take a little time to unwind, reset, and find your calm.
