☀️ Tips for keeping cool this summer ☀️

Hot weather can affect us all, especially older people, young children, and those with health conditions. Simple steps like drinking cold water, staying in the shade, and wearing loose clothing can make a real difference.

📌 Take a look at the posters below for easy, practical advice on staying cool and safe, whether you’re at home or out and about, courtesy of The Environment Centre (tEC).

Please share with anyone who might benefit! 💧🌿

📢 Update on Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) for Weight Management 📢

In Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, around 1,000 people currently meet the national eligibility criteria for the new weight management medication, Mounjaro (Tirzepatide).

We know there is a lot of interest in this treatment, but please be aware that GPs are not yet able to prescribe Mounjaro for weight management locally. The ICB are working hard to set up the necessary services, and expect it to become available later this year (Autumn 2025).

⛔ Please don’t contact the surgery about Mounjaro at this time, as we are not yet able to prescribe it for weight management and cannot assist with requests currently.

For updates and information about weight management support in our area, visit: www.hantsiow.icb.nhs.uk/weight-loss-support

Thank you for your patience and understanding!

In Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and across the NHS there is different help available depending on the level of support you require to help you in your weight loss journey.

💙 Cervical screening saves lives! 💙

Cervical screening (a smear test) can help stop cervical cancer before it starts. It checks for high-risk HPV which can cause changes to the cells of your cervix - often long before cancer develops. Early detection means early treatment, and that can save lives.

👉 At Burgess Road Surgery, we’re committed to making your screening experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Our team offers:
✅ Friendly, fully trained staff
✅ Text message reminders
✅ Support for non-binary and trans people
✅ Interpreter services and accessibility options
✅ The option to bring a friend, listen to music, or ask for a female nurse

It’s quick, free, and it could save your life. 💙

📞 Call us on 02380 676233 to book your appointment or ask any questions.
