As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to a close, we’re sharing the last film created for our Thrive campaign by Solent University, Southampton video production students. 🎥

This short video is all about reflections of gratitude. Taking time to notice and acknowledge small moments, people or things that matter to us can support our mental wellbeing and help us stay connected, particularly during challenging times. 💜

Throughout this week, we’ve been encouraging you all to take action for your mental health in ways that feel right for you. Whether that’s connecting with the people around you, thinking about what you’re grateful for or trying a new wellbeing technique to support your mental health.

But our support doesn’t stop after Mental Health Awareness Week. Our Thrive webpage will be available all year, alongside our mental health services. Whenever you’re ready, take action for your mental health. ☎️

Taking action for your mental health doesn’t need to involve big lifestyle changes. It can be as simple as finding ways to move that work for you. 🕺

Movement doesn’t have to be intense, structured or look a certain way to be helpful. It could be walking, stretching, gardening, dancing or simply finding moments to move a little more throughout your day.

One of the resources we are sharing as part of our Thrive campaign offers practical ideas to help you move at your own pace and in ways that fit around your life. 💜

The first May bank holiday weekend got off to a great start at our Mayfield Garden Centre!

On Saturday 2 May, our centre in Southampton held its annual Spring Fayre, and it was wonderful to see so many local people enjoying the day 😊

Visitors were treated to live music, craft stalls, and a selection of food and drink, and children could take part in a range of free activities.

If you missed out, no need to worry – why not arrange a visit to Mayfield for our next May bank holiday? It’s the perfect place to bring the family, grab a coffee or some lunch in the café, and stock up on your gardening essentials!

For more info, visit Mayfield's website. https://mayfieldgardencentre.org.uk/

This weekend, an inspiring team of runners took on ABP Southampton Marathon Festival, raising more than £7,000 to support mental health in our local community! 🏃‍♂️💙

Among the runners was Gina, who took on the half marathon route, and said it was about giving back to the charity that supported her as a teenager: “When I was 17, I suffered with chronic depression and found daily life overwhelming. I had support from Solent Mind’s Mayfield Garden Centre, which really helped. To have the opportunity to give back, means so much to me.”

Gaynor Jordan-Davis, Solent Mind’s Fundraising Manager, said: "On behalf of everyone at Solent Mind, thank you to all our ABP Southampton Marathon Festival fundraisers. Your dedication and generosity are truly inspiring. The funds raised will make a real difference for those who need mental health support the most."

Spring can bring change, longer days and more light, but it can still be a mixed time for our mental health. As the season shifts, it can help to pause and notice what supports your wellbeing right now. 🌼

Small things can make a difference. Spending time outdoors, moving your body in ways that feel manageable and giving yourself opportunities to rest can support both mental and physical health. Staying connected with others also matters, whether that’s a conversation, shared time or simply checking in. 🍵

Spring is often seen as a time for fresh starts, but change does not have to be big. Trying something new, letting go of what feels heavy or focusing on balance can all be positive steps. However this season feels for you, your experience is valid and support is available. 💙
