Taking moments to pause during a busy day can make a real difference to how we cope with stress. For Stress Awareness Month, our Workplace Wellbeing Training Team are sharing a simple technique that anyone can try, even during an ordinary tea break. ☕

Mindfulness doesn't need to be complicated. It can be as small as noticing the warmth of a mug in your hands, listening to the sound of the kettle or taking one slow, steady breath before returning to your desk. These brief pauses help us reconnect with our body, ease tension and create space to reset. 💙

Our Workplace Wellbeing Training Team provides practical, evidence‑based courses that help teams build healthier working environments. If your organisation would like support to reduce stress and promote positive wellbeing at work, our trainers can help.

With so much happening in the world right now, it’s completely understandable if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Feeling anxious or unsure how to cope is a normal reaction to difficult events, and you are not alone in experiencing it. 💙

It’s ok to take a break from watching the news, and it’s equally ok if that doesn’t feel right for you. What matters is noticing how the news affects your wellbeing and giving yourself permission to respond in the way that feels safest for you. 📰

Talking things through with someone you trust can make the load feel lighter, and Solent Mind’s services are here whenever you need them. Find a wellbeing centre near your on our website: www.solentmind.org.uk/our-services

A big thank you to RSM UK and S&W, who came together for a charity football match on behalf of Solent Mind in February! 💙

You didn’t let the wind and rain stop play and collectively raised £410 (to be matched by S&W) for our charity – which is tremendous 😊

These funds will go towards supporting better mental health in Hampshire, and we’re very grateful!

You can tell your resident office green thumb that they were right! Research has shown that bringing a touch of nature into the workplace can make a meaningful difference to how we feel throughout the day. Small changes, such as adding plants to your workspace, can help reduce stress, support concentration and increase productivity. 🪴

For workplaces with limited natural light, high‑quality artificial plants can still offer many of the same wellbeing benefits. What matters most is creating a workspace where people feel supported, welcomed and able to do their best. ☀️

Our Workplace Wellbeing Training Team can help organisations explore practical steps like these to build healthier, more compassionate working cultures.

If your organisation would like to learn more about how small everyday actions can support staff wellbeing, our team is here to help. Visit our website for more information: www.solentmind.org.uk/training

Military life doesn't come with a manual, but you don't have to navigate it alone.🎖️

Our new Military Minds service is here to offer practical support for British Army and Royal Air Force families. 💙

- Tools and techniques to help manage stress, anxiety or overwhelm
- Free wellbeing resources you can use straight away
- Clear signposting to trusted support and community groups
- A safe, confidential space to talk things through at your pace

Whether you're figuring out how to manage the cycle of deployment, frequent moves, loneliness or simply need to talk to someone with lived experience of military life, we're here to listen.

Yesterday, our Workplace Wellbeing Training Team delivered a free taster session on menopause and mental health. By creating space to talk about menopause, the team aims to open up an important conversation about something that affects so many people in our communities and workplaces. 💙

The session explored how menopause can influence our wellbeing and offered practical ways to feel supported. This includes celebrating personal strengths, connecting with others who understand the experience, and challenging unhelpful assumptions about menopause.

The people who joined told us they found the taster session useful and empowering, with one person sharing that it helped them start more open conversations about menopause, and another saying they loved the message about celebrating this stage of life.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. By talking openly and compassionately about menopause, we can create environments where people feel understood, respected and supported. ✊

Our Story

Starting in May 1964, we became part of a network of 124 local Minds in England and Wales which are independent charities. We have our own board of trustees, raise our own funds and tailor our support to the needs of people living in Hampshire.

Our approach ensures that people can trust Solent Mind to be on their side:

Open. We reach out to anyone who needs us.

Together. We’re stronger in partnership.
