Please help us celebrate Sophie's 14th Birthday on Tuesday 12th August 💛

We will be at two locations:
🐧Whiteley Shopping Centre, 10am - 2pm.Come along and see us in our bright yellow gazebo! We will have games and sweets for sale. We are asking if people would consider donating a snack box item at the gazebo as a way of honoring Sophie's wishes for parents to be fed 🌈

🐧Asda Havant, 10am - 2pm. We are holding a supermarket day, collecting snack box items to feed families in hospital. Please come along to say hello and pop a snack box item in our trolley 🌈

We’d love it if you could do a random act of kindness in memory of Sophie 💛
Even in her last few weeks, Sophie was always thinking of others and how she could leave something good behind. We think this is a lovely way to carry on that spirit.

So whether it’s buying someone a coffee, checking in on a friend, or doing something kind for a stranger—whatever it is, do it with Sophie in mind.

Whilst the patient was away, her teddies and some towel animals (made by the nurses, see if you can guess the animals) all had a game of Uno. Our young patient was very amused.

Stay cool, brainy bunch!! 🧊🍨🥵🌡

The UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office have issued a Yellow Heat-Health Alert for parts of England until 6pm on Sunday 22 June.

Most of us like to get out and enjoy the sunshine, but no one wants to be in our emergency department with a child suffering from heat exhaustion.

Help keep your children safe in the heat:
🥤 Make sure they drink plenty of water or cold drinks throughout the day
🧴 👒 👕 Use sunscreen, pop on a hat, and dress them in light, breathable clothes
🏠 🌳 Keep them indoors in a cool space or in the shade if outdoors during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)

Yesterday the force was strong on the ward when we were lucky enough to meet some of the characters from Star Wars!

As many of you know, Alison has been part of the fabric of G2N for as long as anyone can remember. Her reputation for being scatty and brutally honest was nothing in comparison to her integrity, authenticity, enthusiasm, knowledge and astronomical kindness. (She once donated all her pub quiz winnings to buy the ward a new wheelchair 🥹). She is going to leave a huge hole in the ward family - although, she did only dabble in a shift now and then, so we take comfort in the fact that we may take a while to notice 😅. Alison is going to be sorely missed by the whole team, and we know she'll be missed by our patients too. We wish her all the best in her new job - our loss is their humongous gain 💜💙💚💛🧡

We’re proud to support the Annual Play in Hospital Awards run by Starlight Children's Foundation, who are celebrating their 50th year supporting play in hospitals across the UK.

Has your child been supported by one of our amazing play team over the past year?

Now is the perfect time to say thank you and shine a light on the difference they make every day.

Our team wear colourful t-shirts, but did you know they also have different roles? Here’s who you can nominate:

💚 Play Specialists (green t-shirts)
Can be nominated for “Play Specialist of the Year” – they help children understand and cope with their hospital experience through therapeutic play.

💜 Play Leaders (purple t-shirts)
Can be nominated for “Protectors of Play” – they bring fun, joy and normality to hospital life with activities and creativity that brighten every day.

📝 Nominations are now open for families and staff, and close on 3 June.

🏆 Winners will be announced during National Play in Hospital Week in October.
