💥 Coke + Mentos = An Explosive Afternoon of Fun! 🥤🎉
What happens when you drop Mentos into Diet Coke? A fizzy eruption that had our residents cheering and laughing all afternoon! 😄

We tested 3 flavours — spearmint, peppermint, and fruity — to see which would make the biggest geyser. They all performed well and the reactions were spectacular! 💧

The best moment? When resident Irene decided to try it herself... and the coke reacted quicker than Irene! 😆 She ended up covered in Coke but took it like a champ, laughing along with everyone. What a star! 🌟

Our residents embraced a range of new exercises, putting their coordination to the test—and they did brilliantly!

🌱 Garden Club Update: First Harvest! 🌿

There was plenty of excitement in the Willow garden and courtyard as the Garden Club celebrated their first crop of the season!

With the sun shining, Pam, June, and Irene were all smiles as they picked a beautiful variety of runner beans, beetroot, broad beans, cucumbers, lettuce, chillies, and several types of tomatoes—all grown with care and enthusiasm.

The colourful tray of fresh, homegrown produce was proudly handed over to our chef, ready to be transformed into something delicious for everyone to enjoy.

Well done, ladies! Your green thumbs are making a real difference.

🍦 National Ice-Cream Day: A Sweet Success! 🍦

Residents came together to celebrate National Ice-Cream Day in the most delicious way—with classic Cornetto cones featuring smooth vanilla ice cream and a generous sprinkle of colourful toppings.

The event stirred up warm memories of childhood summers, with many reminiscing about the familiar jingle of the ice-cream van echoing down the street.

It was a simple yet joyful treat, and a lovely time was had by all!

🌞 What a fantastic day at the Oaklands Summer Fete! 🌞

The courtyard was full of life with fun games, a sizzling BBQ, candy floss, popcorn, and amazing community stalls for all ages! 🎯🌭🍭

🎶 The Willow Lounge was buzzing as the talented Jimmy had everyone singing, dancing, and clapping along with hits from across the decades!

🍰 Our vintage café served up delicious cakes and refreshing drinks all day long, while Reception was packed with excitement from the raffle, lucky dip, and more.

🙏 A huge thank for the gift vouchers that were kindly donated from local communities, and our incredible volunteers and staff who made the day such a success — we couldn't have done it without you!

✨ A truly memorable event and a great time had by all!

Another Fantastic Session with Burns Virtual Gym!

This afternoon’s exercise class with Burns Virtual Gym proved to be another great success. Not only do these sessions bring a fantastic feel-good factor, but residents also really enjoy the social side of coming together and having fun as a group.

This weekend our residents at Oakland's explored Raised Salt 🎨, this involved mixing Salt and various food colours together.

We applied a thin layer of glue to our choice of paper and then poured their chosen coloured salt which they already prepared earlier...

Some had predesigned pictures of butterflies while others designed their own,lots of glitter was involved ✨✨

Great fun was had by all. Also created some vibrant Butterflies made from cut out paper plates.🦋
