Good morning everyone…….. Graham here.
Long post please bear with me.
Well as you can see, this is not quite the plan we had in mind at the main event this weekend .
Firstly, I am fine. I have been checked out at Northampton Hospital where I have a chest x-ray and an endoscope so they could check out my throat and all is well. I had to stay put for a few hours for observations and despite some blackness in my throat nothing got into my lungs thankfully.
The suit and safety gear really did its job as my left side was on fire in the car as I was trying to come to a stop at the end of the track and I couldn’t see a thing. Thankfully I got out and shut both bottles off. The safety and fire team were superb and immediately went to work to put he fire out which was raging at this point. The ambulance crew swept me up and gave me the very best care looking after me and getting to the hospital asap. Massive thanks to Sam and her team at the track they were on it and had me on the way to
Hospital in a matter of minutes.
It has been very overwhelming and emotional the amount of calls, messages of support and well wishes we have received from all over the world since the accident, I will respond to each and everyone of you. Thank you all so much ❤️.
Well as you can see from the pics the fire was quite severe and although we’re not entirely sure of the cause yet but there is no oil in the drip tray so we didn’t hole the block plus it’s obvious from the intensity of this fire that it was in fact a fuel fire that breached the nitrous line at some point. She is in very bad shape and I was pretty devastated to see this after returning from the hospital not really knowing what to expect. I simply can’t believe the fire actually melted the rocker covers.
We don’t have a plan yet as it’s way too early to make any decisions at this point this post was more about saying thank you to everyone who helped and reassuring you that I’m okay despite this horrendous image.
I’m not sure of who and how many helped put all of our kit away while we were at the hospital, but I can’t thank you all enough I was blown away by your kind gesture thank you much Marc Huxley John Dalrymple Roxanne Mccarthy Leah Kellett Jordan and who ever else was there ❤️
A very big hank you also to Vicky, Grace & Pete Boost Monkey Racing and Harvey for getting the car home in their enclosed trailer as it was a very late night and we were all shattered.
One last huge shout to the crew Stuart McCarthy Roxanne and Tom who was messaging from his flight to the US as it’s hit us all pretty hard.
Thank you everyone for your support it is greatly appreciated by all of us.
