As healthcare professionals, we are the bridge between our service user's and the care they receive.
Jessās Rule is an initiative named after Jessica Brady, a 27-year-old who tragically passed away after her symptoms were missed across 20 appointments.
The rule is simple: If a service user sees their GP three times for the same ongoing problem without improvement or a clear diagnosis, the GP must "rethink" the care plan.
For those of us in Social Care Nursing, this means:
Advocating for our residents/patients after the 3rd visit.
Encouraging GPs to move from virtual to face-to-face consultations.
Collaborating on escalation plans rather than passing blame.
Letās work together to ensure no more opportunities for investigation are missed.
