Hi Everyone
The topic I am posting today is about Anxiety relating to the Coronavirus. Sadly the virus is still prevalent and illness is now compounded by winter influenza. Hospitals are overwhelmed with the sheer volume of patients requiring emergency and acute treatments.
Some people are so anxious about the virus that it impairs their day to day living. Psychologists (over 2 years down the line) are seeing patients presenting with avoidance and obsessive compulsive behaviours. We have been encouraged to avoid contamination and wash our hands over and over again.
We know that these safety measures to protect ourselves and others have been necessary but they can also increase anxiety in the long term. For example we may have been and still feel uneasy about moving within larger groups of people or returning to work following a bout of illness.
Without sounding too patronising there are some practical self-care techniques that can help with general fears and anxieties and I will be suggesting some in my next post.
Hypnotherapy and Self-Hypnosis certainly have a place amongst the various treatments available. I advise my clients on the merits of self-hypnosis and help them to use these techniques in their every day life. If you would like some help in coping with anxiety or just an initial consultation please contact me.
