Our monthly cheese and wine afternoons are a lovely addition to our café sessions. They offer a relaxed chance to slow down, enjoy familiar flavours, share conversations, and spend time together in a welcoming, social space. It’s the little touches that make our café feel extra special. 🧀🍷

Technology can be a powerful tool for people living with dementia — from helping maintain connections and stimulate memories, to supporting independence and safety. But it can also feel overwhelming, with so many options and not always knowing where to start. With the right guidance and patience, technology can become an empowering support rather than a barrier.

Today we say farewell (for now!) to Holly, who has just completed her second year work placement with us while studying Health & Social Care at Itchen Sixth Form College. Holly has been pivotal to our activities — keeping residents company, making countless cups of tea, bringing youthful energy to group discussions and always smiling. We’ll miss you, Holly, and wish you every success ahead.

Regular walks and fresh air do wonders for both body and mind. Gentle exercise boosts physical health, lifts mood and supports wellbeing, while time outdoors helps us connect with nature, notice the seasons and clear our thoughts. A simple walk can refresh the soul, energise the body and brighten the day.

A visit to our local memory café is always a reminder of how powerful community support can be.

These welcoming spaces offer people living with dementia and their families connection, understanding and friendship. Sharing conversation, laughter and support helps reduce isolation and reminds everyone that they are not alone.

We are also lucky enough to have the support of Itchen Sixth Form College students on their health and social care course work placements.
