Our latest volunteer role is getting established.

Why not pop in and talk to them about the Mymedical app and how to sign up?

On Monday 15th September we are hosting the first ever My Medical Record Support Drop-In session at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust , which will be run by My Medical Record Champion Volunteers. The session will be open to all UHS patients or families who would like support with My Medical Record app or account related queries. Please see below for more information➕👇:

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible volunteers supporting the Geriatric Rehabilitation and Care Enhancement (GRACE) trial on our elderly care wards, G5 and G8 🙏

Meet Sue (pictured with a patient), one of our dedicated volunteers making a real difference every day 👋

As part of the GRACE project, Sue spends time with patients, having meaningful conversations to fill our ‘What Matters To Me’ boards — helping our staff truly understand and focus on what matters most to each individual.

The GRACE trial champions the Fundamentals of Care, ensuring that the voices of our patients are heard loud and clear, and it's all made possible thanks to compassionate volunteers like Sue.

We’re so grateful for the time, care and commitment of our volunteers 👏

Last week, we were thrilled to deliver colourful new chairs to the Children’s Theatre Reception at University Hospital Southampton — a small change that’s already making a big difference.

We’re incredibly grateful to Senior Sister Rebecca Smith for sharing this heartfelt feedback:

“We have had such wonderful feedback from staff and parents about them and we are delighted with how they look in the room. We wanted to say a massive thank you to League of Friends for funding this and providing a nicer experience for children and their families during a stressful time. They have also previously purchased the TV in this room for us to help distract the children from the harsh theatre environment so we are really grateful for them spending more money on us this year. It's made a real difference for our service users!”

At League of Friends, we believe that small touches like a splash of colour or a moment of distraction can help ease anxiety and bring comfort to children and families during hospital visits. We’re proud to support the incredible staff who make these spaces feel safe and welcoming.

💙 Thank you to everyone who donates and supports our work. You’re helping us make moments like this possible. Link below if you would like to donate!

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’re able to provide our staff with the equipment and resources they truly need—making their working lives better and enhancing the care they give to patients every day.

We’re delighted to share that a brand-new ECG machine has been purchased thanks to the support of the League of Friends. Mr. James Douglas, one of our dedicated consultants, was deeply grateful to receive this vital piece of equipment.

Thank you to all our donors—your kindness and support have a direct and meaningful impact. Every gift helps us continue to improve patient care and support our amazing staff. We couldn’t do it without you!

This evening I was privileged to visit Southampton Hospital Radio to find out more about the work their team of volunteers do and see inside the studio! I was also invited to be interviewed! I’m not going to lie - I was a bit nervous (and excited).

The team were so welcoming. I found it fascinating.

Special shout out to Simon and Tracey for inviting me onto your show.

Thank you all for what you do to contribute towards making the UHS patient experience as nice as possible.
