We’ve been quiet for a little while.

During the pandemic we haven’t been able to operate as we would have liked to, and we’ve needed some time to nourish our roots. The time that we have been away has given us an opportunity to rethink how we operate and get ready for the new world we are all faced with.

Everything has changed; and as nature does, we will adapt.

We hope you will all join us on our journey to rewilding the world and will keep your eyes peeled for an exciting announcement!

Being present in the moment is hard to achieve and yet it’s all we have. With our fast paced lifestyle, our minds are a constant whirl of past and future chatter, there’s always something we could have done better and something we have “got” to do next. So loud is this noise we forget to notice what is now.
Something magic happens when you’re stood beneath the trees. Looking up at it’s branches you begin to feel it’s movement, hear the leaves rustle and watch the light dancing through the canopy. You begin to notice the movement of the birds and insects, the patterns in the spider’s web, the cycle of the season, before you know it a wave of quiet calm floods through the system, the mind is still and the spirit is lifted. Under the trees we find ourselves living in the present, content in our surroundings. We are in the perfect environment for our minds, our body and our spirit, here we often find clarity, pure energy and peace. A healthy break from society’s demands, one we must give ourselves more time to do and it’s free! 🌳🍁🍄🍂🌲

Healing is something we all go through at some time, physically, mentally or emotionally. Some have bigger mountains to climb than others but we all need a healing process.
People use a multitude of strategies for healing, there isn’t a “one path fits all” technique, but no matter what we’re attempting to heal from or how we choose to do it, we do all need to readdress the fine balance between three things; mind, body and spirit to heal properly.
We can learn a lot from the other animals we keep in zoos. We know we must balance their primal needs within the constraints of their captivity to achieve health and happiness for each creature. Along with medical care, good zookeepers put a great deal of effort into three areas trying to achieve this balance; the correct sustenance, the correct environment and the correct enrichment. We have learnt what’s needed in these three areas not only differs by species but it can need gentle tweaking for individual character too.
So, what can that teach us about obtaining our own species health and happiness? What are our species primal needs as a collective and as individuals? Where can we readdress the balance within the constraints of our society, both personally and communally for better well-being? How can maintaining this balance help us find the most efficient way to heal? These are some of the questions Rewilding therapy can answer, it can help you tailor a healing process to maintain health and happiness.

It’s time to rewild the world!

03/10/2018

I heard a story today, it spoke to me and I loved it’s many messages, so I wanted to share it;

Every morning a woman would drive her 2 oxen miles to the river and back, fetching water.
Every day she would fill large pots with water and attach them to the yoke on each oxen’s back. She would signal to the oxen and they would begin the long walk home.
The first ox walked steady, holding the weight of the water well. The second ox walked with a limp, every step would spill water.
When they arrived home, the woman would empty the pots of water in to a trough for the day’s use. She would empty a full quota from the first ox but only a few drops from the second. She would just smile and repeat the very same process the next day.
The first ox was annoyed by the second ox, he would chastise the second ox for not doing what he should or for not being strong and steady like he was.
The second ox didn’t want to be a failure, so every morning he would put more and more effort in to carrying his full quota of water back. Yet every day his pots would be almost empty.
Again he walked down to the river, “this time,” he thought, “I’ll do it.” But as the woman began to load up his yoke, he began to shake and tremble, the harder he tried to steady himself, the more he shook and as he took his first few steps, he fell.
The woman came over to him, “Ox, what is wrong?”
“Everyday you bring me down here and fill the pots with water but when we get home, I have nothing to show for it! I’ve tried and tried but I let you down every time. I have failed.” His head sunk down.
The woman smiled “Dear ox, have you noticed that the side of the track you walk on has the most beautiful flowers?”
The ox looked up and noticed for the first time how luscious his side of the road was.
“Ox, you needn’t have suffered so, you were not meant to carry water back home, I have first ox for that. You were meant to water the plants, that attract the bees, who pollenate our crops, the crops that feed us.”
Second ox never worried about not bringing enough water back again. He took care of his plants, and let first ox deal with the fetching. He noticed that his limp helped him avoid stepping on the flowers too. First ox even thanked him for doing his actual job very well indeed.

I do love a fable with a happy ending.

For my Autumnal equinox celebration, I went foraging for chestnuts with several generations of my family. I gathered to symbolise my preparation for the cold, hard months ahead. I talked and laughed with my tribe to strengthen the bonds of togetherness, something we all need for our survival, even in our times of central heating and convenience food. Now I’m going to cleanse the house with woodland incense to symbolise my readiness to shed things that are no longer of use to me and gather what is in preparation to tackle the winter ahead. Then I’m going to toast to good health and good luck for all, with a small shot of ginger mead.
A lot of people will read what I’m up too and roll their eyes at the hippie-dippieness of it all, but humans respond to ritual in very positive ways, it can give your wellbeing a huge boost as long as you’re really open to try it!

Autumnal blessings to you all. 🍁🍄🍂🌲

Today I enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of Hazel Hill Wood, sharing this tranquil setting with a group of adult carers.
Having the opportunity to facilitate and witness the healing energy of the wood is truly a blessing. Today I saw people find relief, release, calm and peace from very draining lives and I saw them find Rewilding practices that can help them day to day. All that in 6 hours, imagine what a difference a course of 6 sessions could help them achieve!! I feel very lucky to have been shown Rewilding and I want to share it with as many people as possible! I hope to find and secure the funding to run more.
In today’s world we have to deal with so much stress and pressure but we’re not always shown how to deal with it in healthy ways. Rewilding provides such an amazing coping strategy for your self care/wellbeing tool box. I encourage you all to learn about and practice Rewilding. 🌳🍁🍄🍂🌲

There’s nothing quite like hugging a tree, apart from letting your hair down and resting your back against it instead!
The cool, calm, strength of a tree can seep in to your soul, if you let it! 🌳

Stopped here for a few minutes during my commute. I listened to the crickets and the gentle current. I could smell the grasses, trees and flowers. I watched the plants dance in the water and the insects busying themselves in the way nature intended. I could feel the warmth of the sun and the plant filtered, fresh breeze tingling across any bare skin.
I spent 5 minutes being still in nature, no pressures, no pretence, I could just be me and it was lovely!
I hope you all managed to find 5 minutes to take a break in green space today. Even a little time spent with nature can boost your positive energy and we all need plenty of that! 🌳🌼

Rewilding Eco Therapy

Have you ever wondered why you feel better when you’re near trees? Have you ever noticed the calming whisper of the woods? I can help you tune in to your instincts, and guide you to re-harness the energy of nature for your own well-being and the well-being of the planet. Come rewilding with me!

As society moves further away from our primal instincts we find ourselves caged like captive animals. We have learnt from bad husbandry that if you deprive an animal of it’s habitat and natural instincts too much, it causes all manner of mental health, physical health and behavioural issues. It is no different for the human animal. We can’t fully return to the wild either, we too have become habitualised. Instead we must shift the balance before it is too late. Rewilding Eco Therapy is a way to address this, it combines a combination of techniques from meditation, mindfulness, art and music to tribal skills and bush craft. This reconnects us to nature and in turn, our own natural selves.

Through training to become a Rewilding Eco Therapist, I discovered many techniques and strategies that have helped me overcome personal obstacles and guide me further on my path to inner peace. It lead me to see how important it is to reestablish our connection with the forest and I’m passionate about helping as many people as possible to gain the well-being benefits of finding ourselves back with in nature.

I am offering a mixture of one to one sessions in public woods and occasional special group events in private woodlands. If you’re interested in finding out more, please private message or email me.
