The Yoga in Healthcare Alliance charity offers free Yoga4NHS staff wellbeing courses which are delivered live on Zoom and which are accredited as CPD by the Royal College of GPs. We are currently enrolling 150 staff for our next set of courses running for 6 weeks from Thursday 27th February 2025 (6-7pm, or 7.30-8.30pm). A second set of Yoga4NHS staff wellbeing courses will run from Thursday 24th April 2025.
These courses are part of a Westminster University study into the effectiveness of Yoga4NHS staff wellbeing, so participants will be asked to answer some questionnaires about their wellbeing and experience of the programme. Staff who enroll on Yoga4NHS are supported with access to home practice resources during and after the programme, and receive Royal College of GPs-accredited certification.โ

I started yoga after a c-section as an attempt to strengthen my core and my spine. I was in a car crash in 2001 that resulted a serious lumbar fracture among other injuries. So, Yoga seemed like a gentle option to rebuild strength. I didn't realise that Yoga would turn into my life's passion. I have now been practising Yoga for 10 years with respected and knowledgeable Southampton teachers. I have gained so much more than I expected from practising Yoga. I began my teacher training in March 2018 with Laura Green Teaching and Mentoring and successfully completed the 200h TT course in November.
I teach Yoga because I want to share with people the amazing healing powers of Yoga on the mind and the body. My classes are a mixture of Hatha and Vinyasa style Yoga with a particular emphasis on alignment and developing core strength. The mat is where we will play, take care of ourselves, let go and connect with ourselves and others. I am a great believer in the message that "Yoga is for everybody and every body" so finding suitable ways to make asanas accessible to all bodies is paramount. To help; poses will be modified or we might use props and/or hands on assists.
I currently teach Yoga to teenagers and staff at Testwood School where I have been teaching French for 15 years and it's wonderful to see the impact Yoga is making there in such a short space of time.
In February, I set up my very first class for adults and have been teaching an enthusiastic group of beginners on Monday evenings at St Denys Community Centre 7.15pm. I absolutely love sharing what I have learned. I have also started a second class at the Boat Club in St Denys on Friday mornings 9.30 am and will be adding a third on there this September 1.30-2.30pm for total beginners. I so enjoy offering 1-1 sessions as it means that I am being challenged to deliver what the client requires and also love the opportunity of offering more restorative yoga to finish off sessions. I have done a number of covers for local fitness, climbing and martial arts companies and for colleagues and see it an essential part of my job to be able to support them when they need it.
I am always looking to further my knowledge of Yoga either by reading or attending workshops. It just makes me love Yoga more.
