January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month💗
Cervical screening can detect cancer early, but people with learning disabilities often face barriers. Lack of understanding about what smear tests are, fear, or misconceptions can stop someone from attending, even though cervical cancer can affect people of all ages.
Each year, more than 3,200 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the UK (Macmillan, 2026). Support workers can make a real difference by helping people understand screening and attend appointments with confidence!
