Merger Update-
We have been informed by our clinical system supplier that the merge of HEMC patients into the Blackthorn database has unfortunately failed and has had to be restarted. This means that the Hedge End site is still not able to see patients routinely. We have been informed that the merge will hopefully now be completed by Thursday. This will also impact on prescriptions for HEMC site patients, so we are not able to issue routine prescriptions yet. If you cannot wait until Thursday, please put a paper request in as online services will also be offline still for HEMC patients.

A big “thank you” to our truly amazing team. It’s been a long time coming, but the clinical system merger process starts tomorrow and finishes Monday.
I can’t tell you how amazing our teams have been in supporting us with this process: putting in extra hours, working across sites, making suggestions, reading the interminable emails, and generally being truly fabulous while change happens. We couldn’t do it without them and we are proud to call them the Hamble Valley Health family!

Important Reminder: System Merger Starting Friday, 11th April

Please note that online access has been temporarily suspended as of today in preparation for our system merger, which will begin this Friday, 11th April. If you need a prescription, we ask that if you can wait until next week, please request it after the system merger. However, if you require medication before then, please contact our reception team, and we will assist you as needed.

We appreciate your understanding and patience during this transition.

UPDATE - Tuesday 25th March 10am - we have seen no more issues with the phone lines this morning. Thanks for your patience.

UPDATE - Tuesday 25th March 7.45am - at the moment, our phones seem to be working, so hopefully we will have access today. Our emergency line is available from 8am and our normal phone lines open from 8.30am. We will update this post after 8.30am.

UPDATE: 6.30pm (on close) we have continued to see problems with the phone system all day. We have been told it is a problem affecting a number of sites - a firmware problem which the engineers are continuing to try to resolve. It is likely to continue into tomorrow.
Please bear with our reception team if you do manage to get through tomorrow, they’ve had a very tough time of it today.

UPDATE: 8.45am unfortunately the phone system seems to be having intermittent issues, so is currently down again. You are welcome to try to call us but if it's urgent and you can't get hold of us, please call 111.

UPDATE: 8.10am normal service is restored!

We understand that access to blood test appointments is important, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to manage the high demand. You can book an appointment online from 7:00 AM or try calling us at 8:30 AM, though please be aware that appointments are limited.

Due to this limited availability, we kindly ask that you consider alternative options, such as University Hospital Southampton, for your blood tests. You can reach University Hospital Southampton at 02381 204877 or book online via this https://patientbooking.uhs.nhs.uk/.

Please remember, you will only need your blood test form (available for collection from HEMC reception) if you are attending either the Romsey or ESP Hub locations.

We understand this situation can be frustrating, but we ask that you please refrain from directing any frustration towards our reception staff. We are doing our best to accommodate all patients as efficiently as possible. Did you know February is National Heart Month? If you have high blood pressure, look after your heart by ensuring your blood pressure is treated to recommended targets and you have submitted your blood pressure readings to the Surgery in the last year.

Just to let you know, the Practice and phone lines will be closed next Thursday (20th February 2025) from 1pm onwards while the clinical and nursing staff attend the TARGET training event.

TARGET stands for Time for Audit Research Governance Education and Training and is a bi-annual Training scheme that brings West Hampshire ICB’s GPs, Practice Nurses and HCAs together to learn new skills, hear about new treatments and share good practices. This will result in better services and enable the surgery clinical staff to perform their jobs as effectively as possible.

When the Practice is closed, if you need advice about a health problem that cannot wait until it opens again on 21st February 2025, you should call NHS 111. In a medical emergency, you should call 999.
