Did you spot us in Centre for Mental Health's 'Stability Beyond Care' report? 📃

We're pleased to have contributed to this report and we're proud of the innovative approach we have created alongside Citizen's Advice Wi******er.

Through embedding Citizens Advice caseworkers directly within mental health inpatient wards, we are supporting people with practical issues such as housing, debt, employment and legal concerns.

By addressing these pressures alongside clinical care, the partnership helps remove barriers to discharge, supports sustainable recovery, and ensures people feel cared for as whole individuals — not just as patients.

Today, for International Nurses Day, we’re celebrating our nurses and recognising the compassion, care and positive impact they have on patients, service users and colleagues across our Trust.

Through short interviews, colleagues shared what inspired them to become a nurse, what they enjoy most about their role, their biggest achievements so far, and their advice for anyone considering a career in nursing.

A huge thank you to all our nurses for everything you do every day 💙

At 50, Becky retrained as a learning disability nurse.

This International Nurses Day, Becky is sharing her story of moving from teaching into nursing on the Isle of Wight. She now supports people with their health, wellbeing and independence, and says the most meaningful part of the job is being there in the moments that matter most.

Her message is simple: “Believe the impossible is possible.” Read her story here 👉 https://hiowhealthcare.nhs.uk/about-us/our-stories/why-i-became-nurse

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and this year’s theme is Take Action – for yourself, for someone else, and for all of us. Small, everyday actions can help us feel more supported, connected and able to cope.

Taking action might mean doing something small for yourself, such as taking a short pause, getting some fresh air, drinking water, prioritising rest, or talking to someone you trust. There’s no right or wrong action – what helps will be different for everyone.

Action can also be about supporting others. Checking in with a friend, listening without judgement, or showing kindness and patience can all help create a more supportive culture.

Make sure you take action this Mental Health Awareness Week, keep an eye out on our channels this week for more tips and support.

Becoming a new mum can bring a wide range of emotions, some positive and some more challenging. Many of these feelings are a normal part of adjusting to such a significant life change.

At times, these emotions may feel particularly overwhelming and may begin to affect your daily life which could indicate that you might benefit from additional support.

It’s important to remember that you do not have to manage these feelings on your own, talking to someone you trust or reaching out for support can make a real difference. Health Visitors are here to listen and help you explore support options available to you.
