Care Campaign for the Vulnerable (CCFTV) has come along way in our efforts to improve safety and transparency in dementia care settings. It’s been a challenging but rewarding journey, and these past few years have only reinforced that belief.

CCFTV was honoured to host a table at the recent BRACE - Dementia Research - Charity Gala and to invite some of the amazing people who have supported not just CCFTV, but also me personally throughout this journey. Reflecting on the past and meeting Andy Geach, the CEO of Shedfield Lodge Care Home over eight years ago when I spoke at a Care Association meeting. At that time, I was advocating for the implementation of safety monitoring in UK dementia care homes. Though I was met with resistance from nearly everyone at that meeting , Andy stood out as he told me their homes had safety monitoring in communal areas already installed and it was clear he was an advocate for positive change.

Since that day, Shedfield Lodge has become an ambassador care home for CCFTV, leading the way by supporting the use of cameras to ensure greater safety and accountability in care settings. I am so proud of the progress we’ve made, and grateful for the dedication of those who support us.

The past few weeks have been incredibly busy but immensely fulfilling, with productive discussions with care providers and growing interest from local authorities. Coupled with the inspiring events I’ve attended, it’s clear that real, positive change is on the horizon.💜💚
