πŸ“£ We’re proud to share that QIClearn is partnering with NHS Wales Performance and Improvement and Q to support an important new national initiative: the Quality Management System (QMS) Prototype Programme of Support.

As part of this programme, Swansea Bay University Health Board’s Perinatal Directorate and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board’s Cardiothoracic Directorate have been selected to pioneer a structured, system-wide approach to managing quality. Together, we will support teams to develop, implement and test QMS principles that bring quality planning, improvement, assurance and control into a single, coherent learning system.

We are delighted to be working alongside frontline teams delivering critical services, from perinatal care supporting thousands of births each year, to specialist cardiothoracic services, as they build sustainable approaches to continuous improvement.

The programme will run until June 2027, and we look forward to learning alongside our partners and contributing insights that can support safer, higher-quality care across Wales.

🌍 Following the World Health Organization (WHO) Patient Safety day 2025 focus on neonates and maternity, QIClearn mentors want to shine a light on 12 amazing maternity & neonate QI projects! πŸ’‘

Dr Stephanie Meddick-Dyson, Palliative Medicine Doctor and QIC Mentor, Yorkshire & Humber has chosen to highlight ✨ Dr Sophie Tanner's QI project, 'IN REACH - It’s Everyone’s Responsibility. Improving inpatient access to food and drink.'

Dr Stephanie Meddick-Dyson says:
"I liked the use of the bar chart on this poster to really pick apart what was going on on the ward. It can be easy to focus on documentation and records, but the simple counting showed how actually many patients just couldn’t reach their food! The change ideas then clearly focus around this, getting team members involved who are permanent staff on the ward yet can sometimes be overlooked as that sustainable solution."

Thanks to our learner Dr Sophie Tanner and co-authors A Pottinger and S Saunders at Oxford University Hospital.

πŸŽ‰ BRILLIANT GOOD NEWS to share! πŸŽ‰

We are thrilled to celebrate the success of Ben Rosen, who completed our Improve ONE Thing: the Full QIP course with the London School of Paediatrics in Spring 2023.

Ben’s Quality Improvement Project, β€œSee me Autism”, which aims to improve the experience and safety of autistic children in the paediatric emergency department, has gone from strength to strength. What started as a course project (and a poster you can still see in our gallery!) has now:

✨ Been published in the BMJ (ADC Education & Practice)
✨ Been made open access, so it can be shared far and wide
✨ Spread to multiple hospitals, including North Mid, UCLH and Lewisham

We’re incredibly proud to see how this hugely important work is making a real difference for autistic children and their families, and to have been part of the journey.

Free coaching conversations for Private Healthcare Companies! Do you want to pioneer and lead the way in building QI capacity and capability in private healthcare?

Many organisations struggle with recurring problems:
❓ Staff retention. Do my clinicians have autonomy, flexibility and a well organised setting?
❓ How can we boost our reputation? Is our patient messaging effective?
❓ Could we reduce spend? (for example consumables and energy)
❓ Is our organisation fully invested in integrative care and wellness?
❓ Can QI be used to ensure you are recovering all the available income?

We’ve seen how tested Quality Improvement (QI) methods can break those cycles and create lasting change.

If you’re ready to explore a different approach, QIC are offering confidential, pro-bono coaching conversations with private healthcare leaders who want to transform how their teams work - no strings attached. πŸ’‘

Message us if you’d like to be part of shaping what β€œnext-level QI” looks like in private healthcare.
