Walking is one of the most underrated things you can do for your health.

It’s low impact, meaning it’s much easier on the joints and far less likely to cause injury compared to high-intensity training.

Your calf muscles are often called the body’s “second heart.”
Every time you take a step, the calves contract and help pump blood back up towards the heart, improving circulation and keeping the body moving efficiently.

Walking also places less stress on the nervous system, so you can do it consistently without burning yourself out like you might with constant high-intensity workouts.

And the mental benefits are huge.

Regular walking helps:
• Reduce stress
• Clear your head
• Improve mood
• Boost energy levels

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for your health isn’t complicated training.

It’s simply getting outside and walking more.

Most people with acid reflux are told the same thing…

“Take these tablets every day.”

But here’s the question I ask patients:

Wouldn’t it be better to find out what’s actually causing the reflux in the first place?

Medication can reduce symptoms, but it doesn’t always solve the root problem.

One of the first things I tell people to do is remove fizzy drinks.
They increase pressure in the stomach and can make reflux significantly worse.

But that’s often just the starting point.

Food intolerances, inflammation in the gut, poor digestion, and lifestyle habits can all play a role.

If this sounds familiar and you’re stuck in the cycle of reflux → tablets → reflux again, it’s time to investigate the cause.

Train hard… but recover properly.

Bit of foot sparring with Basil today while he decided the spa water tasted better than his bowl.

But there’s a serious message behind this.

I train hard. Most days start early with cardio, running or gym work, then it’s straight into a full day in the clinic treating patients before more movement or training later on.

Exercise is incredibly important.

But without the right recovery, it eventually catches up with you.

I see it every week in the clinic — people pushing through fatigue, tightness and pain until the body finally says enough.

The body doesn’t adapt during the workout.

It adapts during recovery.

Sleep, rest and good nutrition are the foundation of that recovery.

And this is where good therapy can make a huge difference.

The treatments I provide help the body recover by:

• Increasing blood flow to injured or tight tissue
• Promoting deep relaxation in overworked muscles
• Helping with nerve desensitisation when the nervous system is irritated
• Taking pressure off the nervous system so the body can calm down and reset
• Restoring movement and balance to joints and muscles

When the body can relax, reset and move properly again, recovery happens much faster.

Train hard.

But make sure you recover properly.

NOT ALL PAIN IS “TIGHT MUSCLES.”

If stretching hasn’t fixed it… there’s a reason.

Pain is often blamed on “tightness” —
but tight muscles are usually a symptom, not the cause.

What could really be going on?

• A stuck or restricted joint
• Poor movement mechanics under load
• An inflammatory response in the tissue
• Nerve irritation or entrapment
• Muscle inhibition (weakness, not tightness)
• Compensation from an old injury
• Disc irritation (neck or lower back)
• Rib or thoracic stiffness affecting the shoulder
• Scapular instability
• Overtraining without recovery
• Stress-driven protective tension

Stretching a joint problem won’t fix it.
Stretching inflamed tissue can aggravate it.
Stretching a weak muscle can make it worse.

Assessment matters.

If you’ve been stretching for months with no change…
you might be treating the wrong thing.

Yesterday I treated a patient with a Grade 1 calf tear — painful, tight, and limiting movement.

This morning I received this message:

“My leg feels so free this morning can’t thank you enough…”

That kind of feedback means a lot — not just because it’s positive, but because it confirms the body is responding fast when you find the right root cause and apply the right plan.

But here’s the truth…

You don’t always get feedback.
