End of an era!
This evening we say 'see you later' to one of our band 6 nurses Anna.
Anna has worked on HDU since 2013 and is one of our most knowledgeable and respected team members. We will miss her so much, but good luck in the new role Anna! Your new team are lucky to have you.

We cannot express how grateful we are for this incredibly generous donation from Clevertouch Consulting.
The team at Clevertouch have been fundraising in order to purchase us 4(!) brand new iPads all with Disney plus logged in, as well as so many other incredible goodies from the wish list!🥹

Your thoughtful support will make a real and tangible difference to the children and families in our care during what can often be an extremely challenging time. The gifts you have provided will bring comfort, distraction, and joy to our young patients and make being hospital just that little bit easier.

Thank you never feels like enough for the amazing donations we receive but we’re very excited as a team to share these goodies with the patients and families on the unit. ❤️

Rumour has it last night was the Christmas do in the North Pole… no wonder Elfie is so tired this morning! Looks like the elves were partying all night and Father Christmas was on the DJ decks 🎅🏼🎤

From snowball fights to zip lining, the elves have been up to all sorts while the patients have been fast asleep the last few days 🙊
We’ve been loving our patients reactions to the elves naughty antics- the siblings and families have been loving them too!

The naughty elves have been at it again! We found Elfie the Elf (named by our patient) doing some construction work with the paw patrol gang this morning 👷‍♂️

It’s December 1st, which means the mischievous Elves have officially defrosted and have come to PHDU to keep our patients and families company!
We found this elf hanging from the curtain rail this morning to surprise one of our patients when he woke up 🎄🎅🏼

Emma- consistently demonstrates exceptional calm and sound judgement under pressure, always escalates concerns appropriately for her patients. She is helpful and supportive, promptly responding to bleeps and assisting whenever needed. A dedicated and flexible nurse in charge, Emma willingly takes on extra tasks and adapts to last minute changes with ease. She manages busy stressful shifts with remarkable leadership and commitment, making her a truly deserving star of the month 💫

Kari- doing a fantastic job taking charge for the first time demonstrating strong leadership and confidence. She is always supportive and delivers exceptional patient care, consistently going above and beyond. Kari is a pleasure to work with, maintaining clear handovers and bringing a friendly smiley presence to shift. Congratulations to Kari on winning star of the month, her dedication and positive attitude truly deserve this recognition 🌟

⭐️ Amber ⭐️ - as a newer member of the team we’ve all loved watching your confidence flourish! from moving to a different ward area for the first time to always supporting your team during busy shifts and deteriorating patients. The way you’re always willing to take on board feedback to grow your skills is impressive and we’re all proud. 🌟

⭐️ Daisy ⭐️- you are always so kind, supportive and ready to jump in when another member of the team needs help, whether that’s overnight, with morning meds or leading the team through crazy busy shifts! Your amazing patient care and calm confident leadership really make a difference. Not only are you a fantastic nurse but you are always a great listener and team mate, making tough days a little easier (staff and patients alike). The whole team are so grateful for the care and enthusiasm you bring every day, we’re constantly inspired by you 💫
