đŠââď¸BOOK YOUR POST-OPERATIVE CARE WHEN YOU BOOK YOUR SURGERY! đŠââď¸
I canât stress enough how important post-operative lymphatic drainage is. I know I talk about it a lot, but honestly, itâs as important as the surgery itself in my opinion!
Yes, choosing a great surgeon is crucial for your results, but if your swelling (which is inevitable) isnât managed properly, complications can arise:
⪠More pain
⪠Less movement due to feeling unwell
⪠Seromas
⪠Fibrosis
⪠Excessive swelling, which can worsen scars
Do you have someone checking your compression garments to ensure they fit correctly? Or someone trained in lymphatic taping? These small details make a huge difference.
More often than not, people reach out just a week before surgery or even worse, after surgery when they suddenly think, âOh, Iâm really swollen, I should book a lymphatic like my surgeon said⌠or like Liv said.â
Unfortunately, my diary doesnât allow last-minute bookings. I hate turning clients away, especially post op, but as you know know I work every hour I physically can and Iâm usually booked 3â4 weeks in advance.
A reminder that Post-op care isnât a one-time appointment when you can fit it in. I want to guide you from day one, not weeks into your recovery when swelling and complications may already have begun. That can be difficult to reverse, but what about prevention!
The ideal plan:
âď¸ 2 appointments before surgery to prep your body and skin for surgery
âď¸ 2â3 appointments per week from week 1 to weeks 6â8 for full post-op treatment
âď¸ 8â12 weeks post-op: 1â3 times per week depending on the surgery and your healing
âď¸ From 12 weeks too 18 months: usually once a month for the foreseeable future, especially after a tummy tuck
I have clients coming in 7â8 months post-surgery and theyâre still seeing incredible results! Your body and scars continue to heal for a long time thatâs why I recommend monthly care up to at least 18 months post-op. (Yes, thatâs rightâŚit can take that long for your body to fully recover from surgery!)
