Here we have some paper-based tasks designed by our community OT to support one of our clients to build their routines back up again after sustaining a brain injury.

These activities practise identifying tasks that need to be done each day, planning what time of day they should be done, and time keeping. The rationale behind this is to support orientation to time and sequencing of tasks in correct orders.

If you or anyone you know needs therapy or care after a brain injury, stroke, a neurological diagnosis, or other, please contact us for more information on how we can help:

Here you can see a therapy session taking place with a rehabilitation assistant (RA) supporting a client to get back to the activities they love!

Our RAs can support rehabilitation programmes after strokes, traumatic brain injuries, acquired brain injuries, as well as neurological conditions. They work with qualified therapists and wider MDTs, to support individuals to develop their skills physically, cognitively, and functionally.

Our team support clients to be independent, so that they are in control of their own goals, whether that be relearning how to engage in activities of daily life, accessing the community again, working towards their vocational goals, or a variety of others.

If you, or anyone you know, need therapy, care, or complex care, please contact us to find out more about how we can help.

Our client James has been working with us since January 2024 and has made the most outstanding progress. We first met James in Putney hospital after his brain injury and our team started shifts within the hospital to build rapport and trust and to ensure the transition home after a long hospital stay was a successful one!

Our rehabilitation assistants have assisted James through positive behavior support techniques, support with speech and language, psychological, physio, and occupational therapy input, as well as community access, using an array of transport to participate in activities such as football groups, the gym, headway and swimming.

This photo shows one of his many trips to the gym, James' great sense of humor, winning smile, and an opportunity to show off his hard work!! Peartree community service is almost 2 years in on this amazing rehab journey alongside James and what an absolute honour!

If you or anyone you know also need therapy or care, please don't hesitate to contact us via:

Our lead OT recently attended the Rehabilitate Therapy Ltd conference,
"Independent Living Trials - a battle worth fighting for".

The day really highlighted the value of Independent Living Trials, plus the importance of MDT working, effective planning, positive risk, and client centred practice; all in line with our Peartree Values. It was great to meet so many like minded professionals and we're excited to continue to work with our ICB and Case Management colleagues to offer this intervention for our clients as part of their rehabilitation journey.

Today is FND awareness day.
(Please see bottom of post for contact details)

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is often misunderstood.

A common explanation of FND is that it's like a software problem, not a hardware problem. The brain's structure isn't damaged, but the way it’s sending and receiving signals isn’t working properly. This is also why many people are told their scans are normal, yet are living with very real symptoms.

Symptoms can include:
* Weakness or paralysis
* Tremors or dissociative seizures
* Speech difficulties
* Movement difficulties
* Fatigue

If you're suffering with these symptoms, you’re not alone.
And more importantly, there is support.

Our service provides specialist occupational, physiological, psychological, and rehabilitation assistant therapy support for people living with FND.

Our team believe you deserve to be heard and can work with you to regain control and improve quality of life through evidence-based approaches.

If you or someone you know would like support, please contact:

This March we're bringing awareness to those who have had brain injuries so we can increase knowledge, share expertise, and highlight the importance of supporting those facing the challenges of a brain injury.

We are also bringing awareness to family members and loved ones who equally deserve care and support during the journey that follows a brain injury.

And we are also bringing awareness to the teams who support those with brain injuries and thank them for their support, passion, and care.

If you or someone you know have been affected by a brain injury please don't hesitate to get in touch.

What a brilliant afternoon we had yesterday at Peartree House!

Bringing people together, as residents and staff enjoyed an afternoon tea, expertly prepared by our fantastic chef team.

A great mix of sweet and savoury treats was on offer, all foods carefully prepared for everyone's needs at IDDSI Levels 4–7.

This formed part of Swallowing Awareness Day within Nutrition and Hydration Week, shining a light on the experiences of people living with eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties. It’s been a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and helping people to become , making it an especially rewarding day for our SLT team.

Here's our community rehab team at a face-to-face meeting day.

When community working, no two days are ever the same, and ensuring the team are able to recalibrate and develop the service together is crucial.

Meetings such as these serve as an opportunity for the team to collaborate and share insights. It also gives them the time to discuss new ideas and strategies to support their clients, motivate one another in the vision to empower and progress all those using the service, and to also support one another in the process.

What an amazing staff and residents bake off. Delicious bakes and well deserving winners. So grateful to all staff and residents who worked together taking turns in the OT kitchen to produce these bakes. Let’s do it again in the summer.
