Blue Monday: Fact, Feeling, or a Moment to Pause?
Blue Monday, often labeled the “saddest day of the year,” usually falls on the third Monday of January.
The idea comes from a formula that claims to measure low mood based on weather, debt, motivation, and post-holiday letdown. While psychologists widely agree that the formula isn’t scientifically sound, the feeling behind Blue Monday resonates with many.
January can be tough. The festive glow has faded, days are short and cold, and New Year’s resolutions may already feel heavy. Whether or not Blue Monday is real in a scientific sense, it highlights something important: winter can affect our mood, energy, and mental health.
Rather than seeing Blue Monday as a verdict on how we should feel, it can be reframed as a reminder to check in with ourselves and others. Small actions—getting outside during daylight, reconnecting with friends, moving your body, or simply resting—can make a real difference.
Blue Monday doesn’t have to be about sadness. It can be an invitation to practice kindness, lower expectations, and remember that feeling low sometimes is part of being human—and that brighter days, literally and figuratively, are ahead. 💙

In a world that moves fast & feels loud emotional reactions often happen before we even realise it....
While emotional reactions are normal, learning HOW to regulate your emotions helps you respond with intention rather than shooting from the hip ..
Emotional regulation is the ability to recognise ,understand & manage our emotions without suppressing them.
This doesnt mean ignoring how you feel, it means giving yourself space to CHOOSE HOW you act on those feelings.
Overreaction on the other hand often happens when emotions take control, leading to words or actions we later regret.
The pause is powerful, taking a moment to breathe, step back or mentally name what you are feeling can interrupt an automatic reaction.
Practicing emotional regulation will help us handle conflict calmly , manage stress effectively & lead to deeper meaningful relationships.
We cant control every situation however we CAN control how we show up in it.

Sitting with your feelings is important as it allows you to fully experience , understand & process your emotions rather than pushing them down , ignoring them or reacting impulsively to them.

Alot of what we do on a daily basis is done on Auto Pilot as we use our Subconscious Brain most of the time. Problems can occur as more often than not we are not aware of our thoughts or behaviour until its too late and we have found ourselves doing or saying something that we dont actually want !

I just need to know how you feel now and how you want to feel instead. I have had amazing results using IEMT with my clients and in a very short period of time they have felt totally different. The memories will be far less vivid and the feelings completely watered down if not comletely gone.
I know first hand the value of NLP as I have experinced quite a few tough knocks in my life. I found CBT and Counselling useful however it was NLP that made the difference ! I felt as if I was looking at life from a whole new perspective and suddenly felt in control of my emotions rather than a victim of them. I am able to empathise with most of my clients as I too have experienced alot of what they are going through. I am happy to share my story with you if it helps.....
