Maria recently received an email from the daughter of Mr. D from Sarisbury Green, it is quite a long one but full of lovely things βΊοΈ
"I became aware that Denise was going on holiday the following day so I am sure she had a load to do but we had quite a situation suddenly arise because my dad became bed bound that morning and suddenly became in need of more care than he usually got from yourselves. I know that Denise spent a lot of that day on the phone to social services and looking at rotas and organising staff from your end so that dad could have two carers attend him. Denise also gave me a lot of support and information relating to what dad would need so that I could try to rally things from district nurses to get the right equipment to him. I can honestly say that I felt overwhelmed with trying to work out how the next few days would pan out over Christmas but Denise quite literally sorted everything out before she left and gave me complete peace of mind that she had averted a disaster and carers would be available to cope until I could arrange a nursing home (which both mum and dad would have hated). That evening at about 8pm dad passed away very peacefully in bed with mum holding his hand. We are forever grateful to Denise for her knowledge, expertise and diligence to resolve the situation for us and we wanted you to know about this" π
Maria added she wanted to thank other staff involved in the very last minute changes to provide the best care we could for Mr. D, including Sarah (who was Coordinating), Karen who supported Denise and the carers that stepped up to provide double up care last minute. I appreciate 15-minute visits wasn't the end-of-life care we would have wanted to provide for a client, but unfortunately, with no support from Adult Services, it was the best we were able to provide under the circumstances. You provide the best safe care, ensuring he was not admitted to hospital, enabling him to pass away peacefully in his own home, with his wife holding his hand...his family will always remember the dignified care you provided at the end β€οΈ
Heartfelt thanks to everyone involved π
