As many as 5 million adults in the UK have undiagnosed high blood pressure and don’t know they are at risk. The only way to know whether you have high blood pressure is to have it measured.

You can get your blood pressure checked at your local pharmacy and your GP surgery.

If you’re a healthy adult aged 40 to 74, and live in England or Wales, you’ll be invited to a free NHS Health Check every 5 years, which will include a blood pressure check.

Signs’. The aim of this campaign is to improve people’s awareness of the signs and
symptoms of cancer.
1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, so it is really important to know
what signs to look out for and when to seek advice from your GP Practice.

The first sign of the menopause is usually a change in the normal pattern of your periods. You may start having either unusually light or heavy periods.

The frequency of your periods may also be affected. You may have one every two or three weeks, or you may not have one for months at a time. Eventually, you’ll stop having periods altogether.

All women will experience the menopause differently, but there are some common symptoms that are helpful to look out for. Some you will be aware of, but some that might be unexpected.

It can be really helpful to know the common symptoms of the menopause and how these might affect you. Many women feel unaware of and unprepared for the range, severity and impact of the symptoms.

Women aged between 50 and 71 and registered with a GP are invited for free NHS breast screening every 3 years as part of the NHS breast screening programme. Women aged 71 or over will not automatically receive an invitation for screening, but can self refer for a screening appointment by phoning 023 8120 4959.

Breast screening aims to find breast cancers at an early stage, when they are too small to see or feel, using an x-ray test called a mammogram to check the breasts for signs of cancer.

Southampton and Salisbury breast screening service currently provide breast screening for over 100,000 women registered across 60 GP practices.

Most patients are seen at the Princess Ann Hospital, but there are local mobile screening units across Southampton including Bitterne, Romsey and Hedge End.
