Its Touch Week!👋🏼
Babies naturally explore the world with their hands, and introducing different textures through sensory play helps to enhance their tactile awareness. The simple act of grasping, feeling, and squeezing objects with varying textures encourages the development of fine motor skills.

✨Week 4 of our Baby Development Course was all about the importance of 'Tummy Time' and how we can make it lots of fun for baby and adults too!☺️We also discussed how to create activities and opportunities to help stimulate and develop a babies sense of smell.👃

January is coming to an end, the days are getting longer and Spring is around the corner! Hooray! With that brings Mother’s Day, and pottery prints make great gifts for mums, Nana’s, Granny’s (the list goes on….) or as a special treat to yourself with prints from your little one (and you can add your own fingerprints too so that you have something special that you have made together). The lovely Hayley at Tots Play Southampton West has been a great support of my business and I’m looking forward to returning to her classes in February to create some gifts and keepsakes.

🌈It's Colours Week!🔵🟠
This week our Tots will be exploring all things colourful! Introducing your little one to bright, engaging colours can help develop their sense of sight, and is a great way to introduce the names of colours too!
For babies and small children, recognising and understanding colour is an essential building block they will use for learning in all areas of their life.
Looking forward to seeing everyone this week!🌈

Parenting's a challenge isn't it?

It's something that everyone at Tots Play understands from personal experience, so one of the things that's really important to us is to provide a relaxed, supportive environment at all our classes, where we can really get to know you and your little one and you can get to know the other mummies (and daddies and grandmas) that you'll see each week too.

Our classes are purposely kept small to encourage these friendships and sharing of experiences, as we know it's much easier to face and overcome those challenges when we feel supported. If you'd like to meet some lovely new mummies to add to your support system then why not join us?

It's been so lovely welcoming all of our gorgeous new tots and families this January to our Baby Development Courses!💗 We've nearly completed a full body massage routine on our babies and had lots of fun learning activities to help our babies develop their sense of touch and sight. This is such a special course, full of opportunities for you and baby to play and have bonding time together. I just love capturing these precious moments!🥰🧡🩵

This week is Sounds week!🎶
We will be exploring a selection of instruments and sounds in class this week as well as making our own shakers!🪇
🎵You can have some musical fun at home with your tot too! You could try:
-Tapping - tapping different spoons onto a bowl, or the same spoon onto different surfaces.
-Shaking - pop different items into similar containers or the same item into different containers, does it sound different or similar?
-Squeezing - do you have any squeaky toys that need a squeeze to sound, or a drink bottle that makes a noise when squeezed, rustling paper or a foil blanket can also fall into this category.

We know how exhausting those early newborn days can be, you’re not alone, Mama! 💕

Right now the idea of coming to a class might feel a bit overwhelming. You might be thinking:

“What if my baby cries?”

Don’t worry, babies cry, and that’s completely okay! We understand.

"What if they just sleep through the whole thing?”

That’s fine too! In these early weeks our classes are as much about you as they are about your baby.

Our sessions are a gentle space for you to take a breath, connect with other mums who understand what you’re going through, and focus on your own wellbeing as well as your baby's as you navigate these early days. Parenthood can be intense, and your mental and emotional health matter just as much as your baby’s needs. 💗

We chat, share experiences, and support one another without any judgment, just encouragement and kindness.

Our classes are completely baby-led, so if your little one needs feeding, changing, or cuddling, please do whatever you need to make you both comfortable.
