Tots Play combines the benefits of massage, yoga, music, signing and sensory exploration into one fun-filled programme to boost all round development, as you enjoy special time together. Three different classes for the different ages of your little ones. The Baby Development course is designed especially for our youngest babies, and provides new parents with a range of skills and activity ideas to give your baby a head start in life. Classes are from suitable from birth to 6 months old. Discovery Tots classes are fun, interactive weekly play session that you and your baby will both enjoy. 🧡Let's go - Week 1: Yoga fun starts now!
Let the adventure begin!🧡

We're starting strong for Week 1 of our challenge, with a set of fun, yoga-inspired movements to get you and your little one stretching, smiling and trying some new ways to play together.
Here's what's on this week's bingo card:

🌳Be a Tree - Try a tree pose, bring the foot of one leg to the knee or calf of the other leg, either standing or seated, great for balance and co-ordination.
🦆Dabbling Duck - Try an inverted pose where you hold your little one and tip them upside down!
👃🏻 Toes to Nose - Stretch out those hips by bringing the toes to the nose (or as close as you can).
😀Swing and Smile - Swing your tot from side to side (they can be facing up or down) and see if you can encourage a great, big smile!
🌪️Twirl Around - Fast or slow, twirl on the spot with your little one for a boost to their vestibular system, and guarantee some giggles.

🧘🏼‍♀️BONUS POINTS for completing our 'Parent Challenge':
5 Calming Breaths - Take a pause for you and take 5 deep breaths. Make sure the exhale is longer than the inhale for a boost of calm.

Tummy Time Play

Who knew tummy time could be this fun?! 😁

Encouraging tummy time, even for just a few minutes each day, is so important! By strengthening their neck and back muscles you are building up your baby’s head control, which is the first step towards sitting, crawling and eventually walking. 💖

You'll find lots of ideas for making this fun, which is the key to it being effective, when you join one of our baby classes. From using a beach ball, foil blanket or mirror to engage your little one, to bouncing them on your legs and lots more - there are so many ways to enjoy tummy time together.

Do you wonder why we include such a wide variety of activities in our Tots Play classes? The reason is that young children learn best when they are using their whole body and all of their senses, and having varied opportunities for play is the most effective way to help them on this journey of development!

To make the most of this, all our class activities are carefully designed to not only encourage use of all of the senses, but also learning and development across the seven areas of learning set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Most importantly, though, they are designed so that each child can participate in his or her own way, and are so much fun that they can’t wait to join in! 💖

Our Story

Tots Play combines the benefits of massage, yoga, music, signing and sensory exploration into one fun-filled programme to boost all round development, as you enjoy special time together. And of course lots of bubbles at the end of every session! Three different classes for the different ages and mobility of your little ones. The Baby Development course is designed especially for our youngest babies, and provides new parents with a range of skills and activity ideas to give your baby a head start in life. Classes are from suitable from birth to 6 months old. Discovery Tots classes are fun, interactive weekly play session that you and your baby will both enjoy. Come and join us at Discovery Tots for physical, social and sensory development through play. Classes are suitable from 8 weeks to crawling/early walking. Social Tots classes are similar to Discovery Tots but adapted for the greater mobility and developmental stages of your growing toddler. Your little one will love the physical, social and creative development through play. Classes are suitable from active crawling to 2 years old. Available for parties too! Please ask for more details! We run classes in Shirley on Wednesdays at the Scout Hut opposite Shirley swimming pool and on Thursdays in Netley Marsh, Totton, at St Matthews Church Hall.
