Why do I do this work?

One of the greatest privileges of being a celebrant is listening.

Listening to the stories that make a person who they are.
The funny habits, the family sayings, the favourite songs, the moments that mattered.

Every life deserves to be remembered in a way that feels personal, honest and full of love.

Helping families create that farewell is work I never take lightly. 🤍

"A great marriage is not when the 'perfect couple' comes together. It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences." — Dave Meurer 🤍

Starting the week with a reminder that weddings are about the celebration, but marriage is about the journey. Happy Monday!

Happy Easter everyone, have a lovely time, whatever you are doing. 🐣

Ever wondered what a Celebrant actually does? 🎤✨

I’m looking to give back to our local community! I am offering FREE presentations "Beyond the Script: The Role of a Modern Celebrant." for local organisations, community groups, and clubs.

Whether it’s a rotary club, a hobby group, or a community center, I’d love to come along and share the "behind the scenes" of how a celebrant crafts life’s most meaningful moments—from weddings and naming days to funerals and vow renewals.

🎁 The Bonus: Anyone who attends my presentation and goes on to book a service with me will receive a 15% discount as a thank you!

If your group is looking for a guest speaker, please drop a comment below or send me a DM to get on my calendar! 📅

"Ever wondered where the phrase 'Tying the Knot' actually comes from? 🪢✨

It’s rooted in the ancient tradition of Handfasting! This beautiful ritual involves gently binding a couple's hands together with ribbons, cords, or even family tartans to symbolize their union and commitment.

What I love most about it is how personal it can be—you can choose colors that represent your journey or even involve family members to help 'tie' the cords. It’s a visual, soulful, and unforgettable moment in a ceremony.

Would you consider adding a tradition like this to your big day? Let me know in the comments! 👇"

If you are thinking about getting married or renewing your vows, how about incorporating a unity sand ceremony into your celebration.
A unity sand ceremony is a symbolic wedding ritual where a couple blends two separate vessels of sand into a single container. This act represents the merging of two individual lives, families, and histories into one inseparable unit. Just as it would be impossible to separate the individual grains of sand once mixed, the ceremony signifies a permanent and eternal bond.

Different colour sands have different meanings, for instance my favourite colour is blue and blue symbolises

Tranquility and Peace: Represents a peaceful life together.

Loyalty and Strength: Darker blue shades symbolize a strong, unwavering commitment.

Patience and Longevity: Signifies the endurance of the relationship.
Harmony and Trust: Often chosen to represent a balanced and trustworthy partnership.

How did celebrants begin, what is the history behind us?

The History of Civil Celebrants
Modern civil celebrancy originated in the early 1970s in Australia, driven by Attorney-General Lionel Murphy to provide meaningful, personalized, and non-religious ceremonies. While traditional rituals date back to ancient times, the modern movement broke the monopoly of clergy and registries, allowing customized,, client-designed weddings and funerals.
