20 years ago I genuinely believed being healthy was another word for being a size 6! Since being a late 40's, peri-menopausal, full time working single mum, being healthy is about one thing - FEELING ALIVE and THRIVING in mind, body AND soul! As a qualified Personal Trainer, Wellness and Nutrition Coach, I became a Menopause Practitioner to truly understand the root causes of peri-menopause and menopause symptoms to not only help my clients over 40 (some younger) manage their symptoms naturally but to also help manage my own. Eating nutritious food, being physically strong, finding myself and overcoming loss and trauma of my past, it is only now that I truly know what it means, and how it feels, to be healthy! 💛 Permission to Pause….and RESET 💛

Last week I took a whole week off.
No work. No social media worries 😜. Just me, spending time with L and hanging out with friends, doing what I love with some much-needed space to breathe.

Life had got manic — juggling work, finances, and being a mum… it all caught up with me. I couldn’t see the wood through the trees 🌳 and I knew something had to give.

And you know what? That week off gave me exactly what I needed:
✨ Rest
✨ Fun
✨ Clarity
✨ Focus

The highlight was definitely our adventure to Cheddar Gorge 🧗‍♀️ (yes, rock climbing with L — she absolutely loved it!).

Taking time out reminded me that although I take care of everyone else, my wellness matters too. If you’re not on form, no one around you gets the best of you either 😢

So here’s your reminder: it’s OK to step back, take some time out to reset, and recharge. No guilt!💪💕

As a mum, working a job, running a house, looking after family, working another job dealing with kids, dealing with life, this week you MUST take some time out to BREATHE! 🙌

So many friends, clients and myself were burnt out last week, I blame it on the Pink Moon 🤷‍♀️? But we just all kept going, the result….broken!

So this is an “order” 🤣 from your PT - this week you MUST:

🧘🏼‍♀️ take some time to rest every day
🙌 do some meditation
🏋️‍♀️ if you miss a training session because you’re absolutely shattered it doesn’t matter!
👊 say no if it’s not absolutely imperative or ask someone else to do it instead

This week is about getting your mojo back!

😴 get to bed before 10pm
🫐 eat clean - think proteins, fruits and veggies, healthy fats and whole grains
💃 move your body - think walks, dancing round the house, keep fit fun
💕 be kind to yourself - speak words of kindness to you, “I can do this”, “I love the person that I am” “I deserve some time to breathe” “I am bloody awesome”

Just remember, life is crazy, hectic and demanding. You are only one person and it’s ok to not be running around being super Mum/wife/daughter all the time….to be a true super Mum/wife/daughter is to make sure you are rested too, as without rest how can you happily and healthily be all those things!

My promise to myself this week - to keep me well rested and back on track to feeling less burn out - is to be in bed by 10pm every…single….night….what’s your’s?

🍏✨ Can You Eat Fruits? The Answer is YES! ✨🍓

This is a question I surprisingly get asked quite often, and honestly, what has the world come to when clients hesitate to eat FRUITS?! 😲

Yes, fruits contain sugars, but they’re NATURAL sugars!

When you work with me, for the first 6 weeks we focus on healthy eating—and let me tell you, ALL fruits are allowed!

We NEED fruits and veggies for the vitamins and minerals our bodies need to function optimally (especially if you’re perimenopausal as they help to balance hormones) and ultimately to prevent disease (another win at our age!) 🌱💪

So why would anyone tell you to avoid fruits? That’s just bonkers! 🙈

There are ways to manage the sugar content and insulin spikes when enjoying fruits.

Eating whole fruits (instead of juicing) is a great way to do this! Whole fruits come packed with fiber, which helps reduce those blood sugar spikes! ⚖️

In my world, we remove the fear of eating healthy foods like fruits—from those “slimming” gurus who make you second-guess your choices. Remember, if it’s natural, your body knows what to do with it, and it’s highly likely offering some, if not ALOT, of health benefits.

Want to feel amazing? Give your body the fuel it craves, and yes, fruits are definitely part of that nourishing mix! 🍍💖

🎉🌸 Cheers to Being IN Menopause! 🌸🎉

Yes, you heard it right! After what felt like an eternity of mixed symptoms, it is official, I am now IN aka POST menopause!

Not having a period for 12 months means I’m now post-menopausal. My last period was February 27, 2024—not that I’m counting! 😂 How amazing does it feel to say goodbye to periods?! Wooop wooooop!! 💃🎉🤩💪

For the past year, I’ve been skeptical, thinking I’d be that person with a surprise period at 11 months and 28 days—but here we are, over a year in, and... no sign of one! 🎉

This is a time to celebrate the next stage of my life!

While some symptoms may linger (I had a cheeky hot flash a few days ago!), I’m excited about what’s in store and ready to thrive in menopause, not just survive!

When my periods stopped, it was intense!

😳 Ten hot flashes a day! 🔥
🥲 Sleep? Forget it! Very annoying!
🤷‍♀️ My nails just stopped growing—seriously! 🙈
🙈 The rage? SO out of character! My daughter gave me plenty of weird stares! 🤣
😩 The hunger? OMG, I was ALWAYS hungry! It led to a sneaky extra pound each month, leaving me a whole stone heavier than I was a year ago.

Weight gain is real, especially as our hormones go haywire. Did you know our hunger hormones, Ghrelin and Leptin, are also affected during perimenopause?

But guess what? The tides have turned!

I’m hardly dealing with hot flashes now, and the rage is rare. My hunger feels more in control (that parasite cleanse I’ve been wanting to do starts this week!). Plus, my nails started growing the day after my 12-month mark—I’m not joking! 🙌

Is this the new era? Am I out the other side and symptom-free (well, almost)? Only time will tell!

I know my nutrition, fitness, and wellness techniques have been my guiding light this past year. I just need to keep them up—I don’t want those symptoms returning!

Who doesn’t LOVE chocolate? 🍫

Yes, I’m a proud chocoholic! If I could live on chocolate every day, I absolutely would! 😂🤣

But here’s the thing—I’ve convinced myself that just one bar a day is fine. And then I wonder why the weight isn’t budging, especially during perimenopause! Seriously, I only have to glance at a chocolate bar to gain a pound. That random extra stone last year? Yep, you guessed it! 🙈

I’m not saying you should ditch chocolate altogether. But let’s be real: even just one bar (or a bag of mini Wispa’s or Buttons—which I can easily demolish in 5 minutes!) can sabotage your weight loss efforts.

Why? Because most standard milk chocolate is:
- Highly processed
- Packed with unhealthy fats and sugars
- Sometimes containing heavy metals—yikes!

Your body doesn’t know what to do with that junk, so it stores it as fat and causes inflammation. How annoying is that?!

Over the years, I’ve made some swaps that still satisfy my chocolate cravings and yes you guessed it, as soon as I stopped eating a chocolate bar every day the weight started to come off (funny that! 🤔😳🥸). Here are some of my faves:

- I enjoy organic dark 70% chocolate—savouring it over a few days, not minutes!
- I love vegan chocolate from health shops—so many delicious options (shout out to Hu!)
- I make homemade protein balls—50 small ones at a time to last the week!
- And I can’t resist organic dates with roasted almond butter—they’re heavenly!

Of course, I still indulge in my faves like Mini Eggs, Wispas, and Buttons, but now they’re a rare treat!
