Sharon Horwood Counselling

Sharon Horwood Counselling I'm a therapeutic counsellor. I had a life changing medical trauma in 2005. I am the person to listen and accompany you on your journey of exploration.

The impact it had on me & people in my life, motivated me to help anyone facing transitions in their life and young people navigating their future. Hi, my name is Sharon and I am a talking therapist, or should I say a listening therapist? Are you stressed with day to day life or have you had a LIFE CHANGING EVENT and need to process it, in order to accept it? I have experienced Acquired Brain Injury that impacted me and my family; this took years to come back from but we are all getting there. I also love working with young people. You face so much pressure to choose! Whether exams, getting the right work, university, or the thought of saving to move out. In my previous career I used to work with and train young people to aspire to their best life. I work online and from Prittlewell House, Southend-on-sea.

To all of my lovely clients and my prospective ones too! šŸ‘‹

Just wanted to let you know I’ll be taking a little break from October 15th to 20th to recharge my batteries.

We all need time to step back and reset don’t we?ļæ¼ it’s so important to avoid burnout and take care of ourselves so we can show up as our best selves for the people and things we care about. So I’m practising what I preach too.

I’ll be back on the 21st, refreshed and ready to go! If anything urgent comes up, contact the Samaritans on 116 123 or ring 111. ļæ¼Feel free to drop me a message and I’ll get back to you when I return.

Thanks for understanding! šŸ’™

I’m a psychotherapist helping you recover from burnout, stress & low self esteem. Are you dealing with depression, anxiety, or wanting non-judgemental support?

Remember: rest isn’t lazy—it’s necessary!

Taking time for ourselves means we can show up better for everything that matters. šŸ’™

Anyone should be able to access therapy when they need it.

But right now, that’s not the reality for too many people. Waiting lists are growing, services are underfunded, there are still barriers to access. Despite promises, mental health is still being left behind.

This World Mental Health Day, we’re calling on the Government to make mental health a priority with proper investment for services that meet people’s needs.

10/10/2025

TToday, on WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY, let’s open up the conversation about something that affects us all:

🧠 our mental wellbeing

Life can be challenging. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, grief, trauma, or just feeling stuck, it’s important to remember that support is available.

Counselling provides a safe, confidential space to explore your feelings, develop coping strategies, and work towards positive change.

You don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis to reach out.

Sometimes talking to a professional can help you gain clarity, process difficult emotions, and build resilience for whatever life brings, therefore stopping you from reaching crisis point.

If you or someone you know could benefit from counselling support, I’m here to help.

Visit horwoodcounselling.co.uk to find out more about how we can work together on your mental health journey.

Remember: Your mental health matters. You matter. And it’s okay to ask for help.

STOP apologising for existing. 🚫

Low self-esteem makes you:

→ Say sorry for everything
→ Shrink in conversations→ Accept less than you deserve
→ Question every compliment

🌟Here’s your homework:

1. Count how many times you say ā€œsorryā€ today
2. Replace unnecessary apologies with ā€œthank youā€
3. Stand up straight when you walk
4. Write down ONE thing you did well today

Your worth isn’t up for debate. Act like it. šŸ’Ŗ

🩷 The beautiful truth is this: self-esteem can be rebuilt.

āļøThat critical inner voice can learn to speak more kindly. You can learn to see yourself through a lens of compassion rather than criticism.

šŸ’š If you’re struggling with low self-esteem, please know that you’re not alone, and you’re not broken. You’re human, and you’re worthy of the same kindness you’d show a dear friend. šŸ’š

āļøSometimes professional support can make all the difference in this journey.

āļøThere’s no shame in reaching out.

āļøWhat would change in your life if you truly believed in your own worth?

āļøIf you’re ready to explore this journey, I’m here to support you. Learn more at

🌿A gentle reminder for anyone who needs to hear this today🌿

Stop feeling guilty for having moments of enjoyment when you’re grieving or when a loved one is going through something negative.

🌟It’s okay to be okay🌟

✨That moment when you genuinely laughed at something funny? Don’t apologize for it.

✨The time you felt peaceful during your morning coffee? You deserve that.

✨The hour you spent not thinking about the pain? That’s not betrayal, that’s survival.

Grief, worry, and pain are not competitions. They don’t require you to suffer 24/7 to prove their validity. Joy can coexist with sorrow. Light can exist alongside darkness.

Your mental health matters. Your moments of peace matter. Your healing, however it looks, matters.

You are allowed to experience the full spectrum of human emotion, even during the hardest chapters of your life.
Be gentle with yourself. You’re doing better than you think. šŸ¤

Starting university or launching your career? That beautiful chaos you're feeling right now? It's exactly where growth happens. 🌟

I just wrote about navigating one of life's biggest transitions, and I wanted to share something that might help if you're in this space right now:

The uncertainty you're experiencing isn't a sign that you're doing something wrong, it's actually a sign that you're doing something RIGHT.

When you're uncomfortable, you're learning. When you're questioning everything, you're developing critical thinking skills that will serve you for life. Your brain is doing exactly what it's supposed to do when facing the unknown.

Here's what I wish someone had told me during my own big transitions:

✨ You don't need to have it all figured out on day one

✨ Feeling lost is actually part of the process

✨ Most successful careers look like a game of pinball, not a straight line

✨ Small consistent habits become your anchor when everything feels chaotic

The goal isn't to eliminate anxiety about your future, it's to learn to move forward with it.

Right now, you're not just starting a new chapter. You're starting the process of becoming who you're meant to be.

Your future self is already rooting for you. šŸ’™

I'd love to hear from others who've been through big transitions:
