Join us for a Charity Quiz Night raising funds to help us continue providing affordable counselling to people across Southend-on-Sea.

You never quite know how safeguarding training is going to go…🐿️

Last Saturday, we held a safeguarding training session to support our volunteer counsellors refresh their knowledge 💛 These sessions are an important part of ensuring our team feels confident, informed, and supported in the work they do every day.

In true “no two days are the same” fashion, we had a slightly unexpected interruption… while setting up, a squirrel managed to sneak into the building! Thankfully, our very own “chief squirrel catchers” Norman and Lynn stepped in and gently ushered it back outside, and training continued shortly after. Just one of the many memorable moments that come with the role!

Avenue Baptist Church has provided a welcoming and supportive environment for Abacus Counselling & Support, enabling us to offer a safe, calm space where people can come to talk, feel heard, and access the support they need.

Having a setting like this in the heart of the community makes such a difference — it allows us to reach more people, offer consistent support, and create a sense of comfort from the moment someone walks through the door.
