“Maggie, our dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, was the difference between my late wife Maria and me being in total crisis and finding a way through. She helped us navigate a fragmented support system, and she was there for me, listening when I felt overwhelmed and reminding me I wasn’t alone. 💙

But right now, access to a specialist dementia nurse depends on where you live, and many people are still missing out.” – James.

This World Alzheimer's Month, you can help change that. Email your MP, asking them to meet with Dementia UK to hear why every family affected by dementia should have access to a specialist dementia nurse. 📢

It only takes 2 minutes – and your message could be the reason your MP takes action to fix dementia care: https://action.dementiauk.org/email-your-mp-ask-them-meet-dementia-uk?utm_campaign=pdota25&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social

In the late stage of dementia, the changes in the person with the diagnosis become more pronounced to the point that they are unable to live independently.

They may need an extensive care package in place – for example, daily visits or live-in care from professional carers – or to move into a long-term residential care home.

This can be the most difficult stage of dementia for the person’s partner, family and friends. 💙

Know the ABCD of kidney and bladder cancer:

A - Apparent blood in your p*e - even just once
B - Back pain or pain in your side that won't go away
C - Constant tiredness, loss of appetite or weight loss
D - Discomfort when p*eing or needing to go more frequently

Most of these symptoms won't be cancer, but getting checked early makes all the difference if they are.
Know your body, trust your instincts. If something's not right, speak to your GP and don't hesitate to ask about specific tests
