Some people lump positive thinking and CBT together, but they’re actually very different πŸ”€

Positive thinking is consciously trying to stay optimistic or focus on the good – regardless of the nature or reality of the situation πŸ˜…

CBT is based on accuracy and evidence – using this to challenge overly negative thoughts and find fairer, more realistic alternatives 🎯

Both have their uses, but for long-term emotional resilience and a technique that works even when optimism feels fake, CBT is the sustainable choice πŸ‘

Share your experience of cervical screening in Essex

Cervical screening (previously called a smear test) helps prevent cervical cancer by identifying issues early. It saves around 5,000 lives each year.

We want to understand people’s experiences of screening so we can make it easier, more comfortable, and more accessible for everyone.

Our short survey asks about:
β€’ how you felt when you were invited
β€’ what encourages you to attend
β€’ what might make it difficult
β€’ how we can improve the experience

It takes just 8–10 minutes to complete and all responses are anonymous.

The survey is open until 23 April 2026.

πŸ‘‰ See first comment for link to survey.

Please share this post with friends, family and others who may have experience of cervical screening.

Are you currently caring for a patient registered at our surgery, or are you yourself a patient who is being cared for?

If so, please contact us on 01702 333 298 and ask to speak with our Carer’s Champion. We want to make sure this is accurately recorded in the medical record so we can offer the right support.

We would also like to provide you with a Carer’s Pack, which outlines the services available to you. This includes the latest Essex Care Services Directory, featuring helpful information such as:
Where carers can go for support
Ways to stay independent for longer
How paying for care works

An electronic version of this can be found at https://www.carechoices.co.uk/publication/essex-care-services-directory/
