Overwhelm doesn’t always look like falling apart.
Sometimes it looks like functioning really well… until you’re not.
Even when you teach all about the nervous system.
Even when you know the science.
Even when you’ve got all the tools, tips, tricks and techniques…
You can still FORGET to live inside them.
The last few weeks have been huge. Scary. Exciting. A massive handover as we move towards the new studio.
And somewhere along the way, my body started waving little red flags.
Fatigue. Tight chest. Aching limbs. Short fuse. Brain fog. That constant “on edge” feeling that whispers you’re closer to burnout than you think.
When we spend our lives holding space for others, regulating rooms, soothing nervous systems, teaching safety and calm… it’s very easy to convince ourselves that we’re fine. That because we know better, we are doing better.
But the body doesn’t care how clued-up you are. It only responds to what you do consistently.
What’s kept me off the brink hasn’t been some big reset or luxury escape.
It’s been tiny, intentional changes.
• Walking a different way to school
• Changing the morning rhythm
• Mixing up after-school routines
• Letting “same same” become “slightly different”
• Listening to different genres of music throughout the day
Nothing dramatic.
Just enough to remind my brain that life isn’t closing in — it’s expanding.
If you’re overwhelmed right now, this is your reminder:
You don’t need to overhaul your life.
You don’t need to be better at coping.
You don’t need to prove how resilient you are.
Sometimes you just need one small shift today.
And another tomorrow. Gentle change counts.
Your body is listening!
