As clinicians working with people’s upper limbs, one of the most challenging issues is splinting, whether it is splinting for pain, to maintain range of movement or to maintain a functional hand position the challenge is always there is no right answer.
Our hands and arms are so different and are the product of what we do, so there is no one size fits all and this increases the cost of bespoke splints.
There are solutions and ways around the problems, but it does take some searching, if you have an issue with your splint, pop into the free upper limb clinics.
Basildon- Tuesdays 10am – 12pm
Southend – Wednesdays 10am – 12pm.
Our team will be more than happy to have a look at the issue, and we can work together to find a solution that is right for you.

Upper limb therapy is essential but functional rehabilitation (To re-habit) is just as crucial. Any opportunity to squeeze in some rehab makes all of the difference. Well done Geoff's Journey

The functional clinic – this clinic is based in Southend-on-Sea as part of the Wellbeing Centre. This clinic focuses on the importance of functional tasks and movements when treating an upper limb impairment. The centre also has an extensive gym and equipment that will assist with regaining strength and coordination.
In this clinic the focus is to enable a person to overcome the upper limb impairment and return to lost activities through new skill acquisition.
In both clinics we can provide 1:1, guided self-care support and group interventions.

Meet the team
Rob is our Consultant Occupational Therapist and Clinical Director. He has been an OT for over 25 years and has specialised in upper limb impairments for over 20 years.
Rob runs our free triage clinic both at the Basilon and Southend clinics and is happy to talk with you about your upper limb issues and provide you with help and advice.
Our clinics run from 10:00 – 12:00 hrs. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and if you want some more information, please feel free to get in contact with us.
