There’s nothing better than coming together to celebrate the amazing people who make .care what it is ✨.

Our staff Christmas get-together included an awards ceremony voted for by our staff- but in truth it is hard to pick when they are 𝘢𝘭𝘭 so outstanding.
Thank you again to the for a fabulous evening of delicious pizza and drinks.

It’s been a week full of festive cheer, as we also hosted a Christmas get-together for our wonderful clients at complete with a buffet, presents and a rather competitive Christmas quiz!

Our care team spend a majority of their time out in the community, and they offer support to their clients in so many ways.

Today, we're following Jo who is a care assistant, so here is Jo's 'day in the life.'

"My day starts at 7am and finishes at 2pm.

I visit clients in their homes in Leigh-on -sea and the surrounding areas and usually
visit six to seven clients on average per day.

I assist clients with getting up and ready for their day. This can include supporting with washing and dressing depending on the client's needs.

I can also help prepare breakfast and drinks ☕, administer medication or prompt them to take it, and assist with any household tasks.

I really enjoy visiting clients and getting to know them. As carers we provide planned care and anything else that they need on a case by case basis.

Once you know the clients well you can really make a difference to their day."

Most Doris Jones clients don’t have physiotherapy on a regular basis. But what every client has, at every visit, is care that’s planned, monitored and reviewed with a physio mindset.

When someone falls at home, waiting on the floor for help can be distressing, for the person and their loved ones. That’s why our physio-led teams are trained to use specialist equipment like the CAMEL (Compact Air-Assisted Lifting device), designed to safely lift individuals from the floor with dignity and minimal strain.

Recently, one of our clients, a gentleman living with Parkinson’s, slipped from his bed one morning. Our team responded quickly. He was screened on-site and, using the CAMEL, was then gently and safely lifted.

Importantly, he wasn’t rushed to hospital. Instead, he was checked over by his GP and referred to the local Frailty Team. Following two weeks of reviewing him at home, he was safely discharged from their care without ever being admitted.

This is what care can look like:
🔹 Rapid, safe support
🔹 Avoiding unnecessary hospital stays
🔹 Coordinated, person-centred recovery at home

Taking a physio-led approach can help slow or prevent a decline in physical and cognitive abilities, maintaining a person’s independence and quality of life.
