One of the best parts of my job is helping people enjoy life, not just manage day-to-day routines. Today I’m spending the day at Adventure Island with one of my lovely SEND clients for some fun, fresh air, laughter and sensory-friendly enjoyment 🌈💜

Days out like these help build confidence, independence, social skills and most importantly… happiness 😊

When looking for support at home, many families aren’t sure what the difference is between using a care company and choosing a private carer.

Both can provide valuable support, but the experience can feel quite different.

With a care company, care is often delivered by a team of carers working on a rota. Visits can vary depending on availability, and timings may be more structured.

With a private carer, support is usually more consistent and one-to-one — meaning the same familiar face each visit, with care tailored around individual routines, preferences, and needs.

For many people, that continuity and personal approach can make all the difference in feeling comfortable at home.

There’s no one-size-fits-all — it’s about finding what feels right for you and your family.

Mother’s Day can be a beautiful day of celebration, but for many families it can also bring quiet moments of reflection.

As a carer, I’m often reminded just how much love, strength, and sacrifice mothers give throughout their lives. It’s a privilege to support people in their later years with the same care, dignity, and compassion they once gave to others.

Today is a reminder to cherish those moments together — whether that’s sharing a cup of tea, a hug, or simply spending time side by side.

Wishing a gentle and happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mums, grandmothers, and mother figures.

Getting out of the house can make such a difference — whether it’s appointments, shopping, or meeting friends for a coffee.

Sometimes people living with dementia know exactly what they want, but the words just won’t come out. That can be frustrating and upsetting for them.

Visual communication boards like this can help. By simply pointing to a picture, someone can show if they need the toilet, want a drink, feel tired, or would like to watch TV.

Small tools like this can make a big difference in helping someone feel understood and maintaining their independence for longer.

Today was a very special day with two of the wonderful people I care for.

Win and Clive are celebrating an incredible 60 years of marriage today! 💎

Sixty years of love, commitment, laughter, challenges, and a lifetime of memories together. It was such a privilege to spend some time with them in the sunshine this afternoon, enjoying a cup of tea in the garden and capturing this lovely moment.

Happy 60th Wedding Anniversary, Win and Clive. What a beautiful milestone to celebrate. ❤️

Support can include companionship, personal care, medication administration, dementia-friendly care, respite support, outings and appointments, as well as more specialist needs including catheter and stoma care.

Care is always delivered one-to-one, calmly and consistently.
